M1A2 Abrams Main Battle Tank
FOX News/Warrior Maven: Army research lab now building future tanks
You could call it a contradiction in terms, or even a paradoxical blending of opposites — the Army is now building a lightweight, highly lethal future armored tank that is easy to maneuver while being able to withstand dangerous enemy attacks and offering protection equal to or better than a 70-ton Abrams tank.
This goal lies at the center of the Army’s Next-Generation Combat Vehicle (NGCV), a family of new combat platforms now being developed by the service for future warfare. Its key goals are expeditionary, lightweight, fast, using artificial intelligence, potentially unmanned, extremely lethal and perpetually upgradeable. The effort involves building new infantry carriers, tanks and robotic vehicles networked together as part of an integrated tactical maneuver strategy.

WNU Editor: The US Army wants its future tank to be expeditionary, lightweight, fast, using artificial intelligence, potentially unmanned, extremely lethal and perpetually upgradeable. Wow. Talk about a wish list that may in the end result in a tank that will cost tens of millions of dollars per copy.
Some time back I was watching something related to the Iraq invasion in 2003. An American armored column was sent through the center of Baghdad on some sort of attack. At some point one of the American tanks was struck by an RPG and caught fire. The whole convoy stopped for some time while the crew attempted to extinguish the fire and save the tank from enemy hands. Eventually the tank given up for loss and destroyed by the crew to protect all of its classified equipment etc. All this while under fire from all sides in uncharted territory. A more formidable enemy would have annihilated that convoy in minutes. This new tank sounds like a great toy but it's a huge waste of money and makes no sense.
ReplyDeleteWNU, spot on, don't forget a "light carbon foot print" added to the wish list, while Russia goes for raw power not giving a f*ck about any Climate Change agreement and what's that little girls name who wants to tell us what the World is like and if you criticise her you are what? A SEXIST!
ReplyDeletesee how geostrategy is being played by our CNN/MSNBC social justice warrior mess?
But what do I know, I'm just a stupid sexist male who doesn't understand anything according to them (and that's totally not sexist of them to say, because they are women, how can women be sexist?) ahhhh the beauty of it all :)
Fear brother! A correction is on the horizon. Our present pettiness will be the stuff of dreams.
