* Nearly four-fifths of the total 2 billion people in informal work are at risk of losing income due to the coronavirus.
* The ILO says 305 million full-time jobs are at risk of being lost in the second quarter, up from its previous estimate of 195 million jobs.
Some 1.6 billion people in informal work, which is nearly half the global workforce, have become at risk of losing income as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, the International Labor Organisation has estimated.
This represented nearly four-fifths (76%) of the total 2 billion people in informal work and close to half of the entire workforce, of 3.3 billion people, worldwide.
The informal economy refers to jobs which typically have little protection, such as for income in case of sickness or lockdown.

WNU Editor: I have been waiting for this report for the past few weeks, and their numbers are staggering. And if the pandemic continues, it will only get worse. The political/economic/and social unrest that these job losses will cause, especially in the developing world, can only be imagined. This is what causes wars and revolutions.

During the Antonine Plague the Roman Empire lost one seventh of it population and those were considered the best time of the Empire.
Gibbons, the person not the species, stated the Fall of the Roman Empire started when Marcus died not during the plague during his reign. Roman commentators as mentioned above considered Marcus's reign the best of times.
I wonder how intellectually honest people are. Most are not. Consider an obese person. They have low oxygenation to start with. Now they get Rhinovirius, influenza virus or corona virus which, lowers their oxygenation further. Double whammy. They die. Surprise, surprise, surprise.
When you saw the 1st pictures of 50-ish people in an Italian hospital and they are laying there on the hospital bed maybe on a ventilator and they have a hill worthy of a Himalayan foothill and they die, are you shocked?
Are you the type of person, who is shocked, when a 60s gas guzzler that gets 12 miles to the gallon, gets even lower mileage, when towing a trailer?
They teach this stuff in middle school or 9th grade biology/ecology class. It is the foxes and the rabbits and population curves. Substitutes a virus (microphage) for a fox (macrophage) and a human for a rabbit and NYC, Amsterdam, Tokyo, Shanghai, New Delhi do not look like the shit anymore.
When did we humans become immune to the laws of physics, chemistry, and biology?
Anyway the US needs to look like Wuhan, so keep packing in 3 million immigrants, legal and illegal, into the US every year.
Oh and all of Canada needs to look like Mississauga.
