Minneapolis was bracing for a third night of violence Thursday after George Floyd protests in the city turned deadly Wednesday evening.
State troopers have already been called in and Mayor Jacob Frey asked for the National Guard's help after one suspected looter was fatally shot and stores were left ransacked and torched.
Shocking images Thursday morning show the widespread destruction left in the wake of the protests over the death of Floyd in police custody on Monday.
Chaos first erupted Tuesday after footage showed a white police officer knelt on the father-of-two's neck for eight minutes. By Wednesday stores including Wendy's, Target, Walmart and AutoZone had been looted, ransacked and some set alight before rioters tried to bust open an ATM.

Update #2: No Arrests After George Floyd Protests Turn Violent In Downtown LA (CBS)
WNU Editor: When I first saw the video of the police office putting his knee on the neck of George Floyd, after a minute I said to myself that this man is going to die. Now we are learning that this father of two died over a $20 counterfeit bill .... George Floyd was arrested because he 'tried to pay store with a counterfeit $20 bill' as Minneapolis Mayor says he would still be alive if he were white after a night of violent protests which left a looter dead (Daily Mail). What a pointless death. And it is totally indefensible. We now have riots spreading, businesses in local communities being looted and burned to the ground, and police departments being stressed everywhere. In the middle of a pandemic we do not need this unrest, the focus should be on speeding up the recovery. But with tens of millions of Americans now unemployed, and even more who have lost everything because of the government's economic shutdown in response to the coronavirus, it is a match that has been lit and some parts of the U.S. are now reaping the whirlwind.
The crowd killed George Floyd. They should all be brought up on manslaughter charges.
ReplyDeleteI have proof.
Lets see your "proof".
DeleteYou say the death is totally indefensible. But it was not so. The dead man was strong as an ox, and he resisted arrest. The police should not have to put their own safety at risk in arresting a violent, strong person who is trying to hurt you. I have some simple advice to all criminals: Do not resist arrest and you won't get hurt, because if you resist the police, they they have to use force to subdue you. But I am talking to deaf people, because criminals are violent and hateful people who don't care about anyone else getting hurt.
ReplyDelete1) They said that Floyd George did not resits arrest. If you watch the video, Floyd clearly resits arrest. He braces against the driver side door with his left arm. That is not punching or wrestling type of resisting, but it is resisting arrest.
ReplyDeleteIt also took the police 10 minutes to get George Floyd into cuffs and beside the police car.
If he was not resting then why did it take 10 minutes?
2) The police had some concern for George Floyd. The called for an ambulance, because he was in distress.
Why the did not put him in the back of a cruise until the ambulance came instead of on the pavement is curious. Were they lazy? They did not want to wipe down the cruiser afterwards.
3) I have to review all the police arrest I have seen. I think they put knees on the back to keep people down. But it is on the back not the neck. The former police officer is in legal jeopardy for doing this and should be.
4) People cite the fact that the officer put his hands in hos pockets. They cite that as proof that he was arrogant and felt superior. Reviewing the body language and psychology hands in your pants (thumbs out) could either mean that you are are very confident or that you are shy, hiding or scared.
IMO I think it is the latter. I think time moved very slowly for the officers, because they felt under siege. It is the crowd harassment that I think in a significant manner led to the LEO diminished capacity.
IMO these people do not deserve policing. In a perfect world, you need zero police officers. If there is a lot of violence, there is martial law, blood feuds, gang warfare, etc. In between for a narrow range is where you have policing. It is not perfect needing zero police, but it is not open warfare either. Mobbing police officers is coming very, very close to warfare.
I think we need more cameras. So we can get more angles. We need video and statistics. We need angles on any crowds. Having a short clip from a ways behind the the driver side door and then later on the sidewalk is not enough. We need 10 or 20 times more video.
The editorial board and others at the NYT need to go to prison for George FLoyd's death. They whipped up the crowd.
ReplyDeleteThere needs to be an impartial investigation into the suspects death. If the autopsy indicates unlawful killing, those responsible should be brought before a court of law. Due process should be applied. Looking at the mayor's performance & CNNs exploitation of the deceaseds brother, this is similar to what I've seen in London since the late '80s. Politicians & the news media will exploit the death of a black suspect (very rarely a white suspect) whip up fear & anger in a certain section of the community & hey presto, violence, destruction & occasionally more death. Afterwards, who'd want to open a business in the affected area where at some point in the future it could be burned down by angry criminals. Hence high unemployment in those areas. People can't see when they're being exploited by well off White people who call themselves Liberal or progressive. Good luck & Keep ducking 🖖😎

ReplyDeleteA white venture capitalist who threatened to call the police on a group of African American entrepreneurs working out in a Minneapolis gym on Tuesday night has had his office lease terminated. The office building where the confrontation took place holds several offices and a WeWork co-working space, in which businesses can rent shared offices and work spaces, and has a communal gym. The African American men who run a business in the building posted the video of Austin challenging them on Tuesday night, the same night video emerged of George Floyd's death at the hands of cops in the city. There has been days of unrest in the city over Floyd's death at the hands of four white cops, one of whom knelt on his neck until he lost consciousness while arresting him for allegedly trying to use a fake $20 bill.
The Minneapolis police officer seen kneeling on the neck of an unarmed black man heard saying "I can't breathe" multiple times before he died was a 19-year department veteran who was the subject of a dozen police conduct complaints that resulted in no disciplinary action. The officer, who was praised for valor during his career, also once fired his weapon during an encounter with a suspect, records show.
ReplyDeleteAgreed Unknown, this is not murder, IMO. Now if the officer broke his neck that is another matter. I was in the military police and we usually placed our knee on their back not neck. The rioting is the usual response you get in leftist cities in which agitators working behind the scenes get them riled up, find these people and arrest them. This usually only happens in major Northern Cities or California. You didn't see them burning anything down last week after the shoot of the jogger or in Charleston SC several years back after the cop shot a black suspect in the back not church shooting. This is 100% BLM, community Organizing and agitators doing.

ReplyDeletePresident Trump has retweeted a video where a supporter declares "the only good Democrat is a dead Democrat" — and the man's explanation behind the comment is even more violent.
Trump retweeted a video from the account Cowboys for Trump at midnight Thursday, in which the leader of the group Couy Griffin declares "the only good Democrat is a dead Democrat." Griffin then explains he doesn't mean it "in the physical sense," but rather "in the political sense" because "the Democrat policy and agenda is anti-American right now." A generous interpretation of the video would suggest Griffin is trying to compliment Democrats of the past, but he never quite makes that point.
Thank you Cowboys. See you in New Mexico! https://t.co/aCRJeskUA8
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) May 28, 2020
The Cowboys for Trump tweet comes in response to a Daily Beast article covering Griffin's rally at a New Mexico church, which he held to defy the state's COVID-19 social distancing orders. The Daily Beast asked Griffin to clarify his "dead Democrat" comment in an interview after the Tuesday rally, but he only repeated the statement and suggested that top Democrats enforcing social distancing will "get to pick your poison: you either go before a firing squad, or you get the end of the rope." Kathryn Krawczyk
"The only good Democrat is a dead Democrat". I see nothing wrong with this very sound opinion.
ReplyDeleteThis happened in a blue city that has been solid blue since 1973. It is in a blue state. And yet liberals tried to blame Trump.
ReplyDeleteIn French law George Floyd would at least be 5% responsible for his death. I kind of like the idea. Under this system I think I would rate the LEO as 50% to 90% responsible. I would rate the crowd as 5% to 33% responsible. I would rate the NYT as at least 1% responsible with their 1619 project.
Awhile back liberal propaganda was getting to my kids. They were nigh hysterical as often happens with liberal propaganda. It was on the subject of driving while black.
The thing is about interacting with LEO's is to start conditioning the officers. You condition them to your favor. That does not mean that you get out of a ticket, but it does mean that you your chances of a bad interaction is slim to none. There will always be a chance for bad officers; you can never get to zero. However, most officers are not bad and you can influence the interaction.
What I told the kids is:
If it is at night turn on the cabin light. That will lower blood pressure. keep your hands on the wheel at 10 & 2. Don't sass the officer. Of course you don;t. You do not sass anyone. Not the officer and not the fast food worker filling your order.
Now George Floyd did was influence the officer in the other direction. That would still be no reason to kill him, but it does move things in the wrong direction and increases chances for a bad outcome.
I think the cop was incredibly stupid with his knee. If the knew was on the shoulder blade, the usual suspects would still be calling for his blood.
With a mob shouting and being aggressive you cannot prove the LEO heard anything. Sound waves impinging on the ear drum does equate to speech being understood. IMO the officer shut down. He went into a minimal mode waiting for the calvary to arrive, so he could get out of there. He did not hear anything.
You know what you do with a democrat?
ReplyDeleteYou do not have communion with them. You severe ties. They'll either grow up or perish. If the latter, you won't be there to witness it.
"A white venture capitalist who threatened to call the police on a group of African American entrepreneurs working out in a Minneapolis gym on Tuesday night has had his office lease terminated"
ReplyDeleteIf the vc is like the one in NYC, then they vote reliably liberal.

"There are many different issues related to anxiety that affect hearing. These include:
ReplyDeleteImpaired Concentration Probably the most common issue is difficulty focusing on sound or conversation. During intense anxiety, when the brain feels like it is moving a mile a minute, it's not uncommon to find yourself "zoning out" or getting lost in your thoughts. As a result, you may find yourself unable to pay attention to the world around you. That means that you may not be able to hear everything someone says while talking to you. It's not that you're not hearing it. Instead, your anxiety is stopping you from being able to concentrate enough to actually take in that information. "
LEO Chauvin heard nothing.
5 years from now Michelle My Belle Obama will come to Minneapolis and decry the food desert. She'll think out loud and ponder why Target is no longer around. She will be stumped as to the reason Target moved out.
A cop shot a black man during a chase. There were no protests. Some community organizers want to. They have done it before here.
ReplyDeleteBut if they would have protested, the cops would just FIDO. This the drive-by shooting of a black residence would result in cops giving chase, but the chase would be desultory. the bad guys would get away. Having gotten away with it, they would shoot up that black residence or another one again and again.
Welcome to libtard America.

ReplyDeletethe sad part? you believe the shit coming from your dumb mouth

ReplyDeleteThe sad part is that you keep repeating stupid things. Michelle Obama decried food deserts. She point out places like Miami. And this of us not born yesterday or not having fallen off a cabbage truck remember the riots in the 1980s in Miami. The stores got burnt to the ground. They were not rebuilt. Then Michelle and others come along with the "Food Desert" race hustle.

ReplyDeleteNice ad hominem attack.
I made 2 points on the 4:00 post. You refuted neither.
So GFY
Sure were a lot of young white guys in the film clips, it's just not that easy to be an oppressed class.
ReplyDeleteNot sure where you are going 4:52
ReplyDeleteOfficer Chauvin had been on the force 19 years. Involved in 1 police shooting.
ReplyDeleteJust one.
That one guy was Wayne Reyes, a white Hispanic.
Doesn't sound like Officer Chauvin was out there looking to tear things up.
I am going with the fact there were a lot of young white guys in the clip throwing things at cops etc, generally being quite naughty. What they have to do with possible police misconduct involving a black suspect is interesting to say the least. Fortunately the well known oppressor Target was suitably looted. These events seem to follow the same script every single time, kind a like any post from secret squirrel.
ReplyDeleteOkay, I gotcha. I don't much care for those idiot white people either. In fact I hate their politics and morality. I live in a multi-racial family.
ReplyDeleteNow, let us take the liberal point of view as a given. Further let us suppose that in their looting nothing was burned or broken, just looted. So there is as much material goods in the US after the looting as before the looting.
But, going forward, we will have less wealth and well-being after the looting. That is our nation won't be as rich or able to take of its citizens after the looting than if the looting had not happened. People will produce less in the near future.
How do liberals square that?
BTW I took absolutely no offense at your question.
