The president is said to have 'bullied' Theresa May when she was prime minister
The Hill: Trump insulted UK's May, called Germany's Merkel 'stupid' in calls: report
Senior U.S. officials believed President Trump posed a danger to national security after phone calls to other heads of state, according to classified phone calls obtained by CNN.
The CNN report claims that multiple high-ranking administration officials, such as former national security adviser John Bolton, former Defense Secretary James Mattis and former Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, concluded that the president was "delusional” after the phone calls.
Trump reportedly told former British Prime Minister Theresa May that she was "a fool" and spineless in her approach to Brexit, NATO and immigration policy. He also told German Chancellor Angela Merkel that she was "stupid” and accused her of being in the pocket of the Russians.

WNU Editor: I do not know if President Trump said all of these things. This is CNN after-all. But in my book former British Prime Minister Theresa May is the worst politician that I have ever seen. She calls an election when she has a clear mandate to deliver on Brexit and to rule. Loses her majority when she declares in the middle of the campaign that she is going to raise everyone's taxes?!?!?!? Talk about completely burning your own base. And even though she still manages to squeak in a minority government because the alternative of a Labour government under Jeremy Corbyn was not palatable to the majority in the UK .... she spends the next two years dithering and procrastinating on Brexit. It is not a surprise to me that when she finally left government, her polling numbers were the lowest for a leader in decades. Bottom line. Theresa May as a leader was weak. And as for Angela Merkel. As this blog predicted almost five years ago when Chancellor Merkel declared that Germany would open her borders to accept refugees, she set into motion a sequence of events that would not only be damaging to the European Union, but may never be resolved. The biggest migration crisis in Europe since the Second World War, the original impetuous for the UK to leave the EU, the revival of nationalism on the continent, and a large migrant population that is not assimilating. Using the word "stupid" to describe German Chancellor Merkel and her decisions is a soft description in my book.
why I agree with all the editors comments i read the last years???
ReplyDeleteSir--
ReplyDeleteYou question the veracity of CNN but cite Zero Hedge for many things.
tip: you seem readey to doubt those places when they give material you dislike but cite those same places when they give things you approve of, ie, CNN, NYTimes, WSK. Walpol

ReplyDeleteIf you are a regular reader of this blog you know that I have pointed out the many times that these news networks have failed us in their coverage. Especially when it comes to covering President Trump. But there are sometimes right, or they may have an interesting story, hence my posting links to CNN/NYT/WSJ/etc.
I personally like opposing views and disagreement. That is how you learn, or reinforce your own point of view.
Now Zero Hedge is an interesting site. I like their business coverage, everything else so-so. I also know that he is a regular visitor to this blog, and he uses some of my military/China/Russia posts as a stepping stone to do more research and coverage to a post that he may put up a later. I guess you can say we are feeding each other info and intel that we may have missed on our own. Nothing wrong with that.
Old King Cole was a merry old soul,
ReplyDeleteAnd a merry old soul was he;
He called for his pipe, and he called for his bowl,
And he called for his fiddlers three.
Every fiddler he had a fiddle,
And a very fine fiddle had he;
Oh there's none so rare, as can compare,
With King Cole and his fiddlers three
Coel Hen theory
"It is often noted that the name of the legendary Welsh king Coel Hen can be translated 'Old Cole' or 'Old King Cole'."
The Coel Hen theory may or may nor be true.
What is an illustrative though. Coel Hen is sometimes said to be Vortigern and Vortigern is said to have invited the Saxons into England. We know how that went for the Brits/Celts.
Merkel has pulled a Coel Hen and that bitch will go down in history as the murderer of Europe.
Merkel is so bad she makes Putin look good.
Sad. It didn't have to be that way.
I regurgitate Mr WNU's comments at BBQ's with friends to help make myself look brighter than I actually am.
ReplyDeleteIt's a winning strategy.
I'm sticking with it until I get found out.
Young Grasshopper would do well to read what Zerohedge writes about reserve currency.
ReplyDeleteWhen the US loses reserve currency status, pensions will be worth pennies on the dollar. People will be kicked out of their homes.
Pensioners will be warehoused in nursing homes that will make the nursing homes of COVID look like a picnic.
Regardless WNU, you don't tell a sitting leader of another country, stupid, especially an ally country.
ReplyDeleteI have seen many, many comments from you defending Trump yet having a go at those who insult him on the basis of it's not something you say to a leader of another country.
What happened to your political optics?
You seem to have missed the ball here.
I generally don't use terms like "weak" and "stupid" to describe leaders. Until you've walked on someone's shoes it generally makes no sense to judge them. I prefer the biblical mandate to pray for our leadership and fortunately we are still allowed to vote so if they bear bad fruit Hopefully we can vote them out.
ReplyDeleteWith that said the policies of May and Merkel have Bourne bad fruit. Many of us in the US could see this and wanted to be free of that and recognizing Obama as a fellow traveler with those two wanted to be free of this hence we noted for Trump.
Furthermore we carefully study international events. We recognized the Forbes analysis as correct that Vladimir Putin is either the most powerful or second most powerful person in the world depending upon which edition we consult. Recognizing the need to end Cold War 2 and realizing that Putin holds Hillary Clinton in utter contempt While he respects Donald Trump naturally this influences the vote. Part of navigating the world successfully especially in difficult times such as these is going to be maintaining and improving relations with the world's most powerful people and countries.

ReplyDeleteWe do not know if President Trump called her stupid. CNN is telling us he did.
But if he did I would not be surprised. International relations are not as clean and polite as you would like to believe.
