WHO: Pandemic 'Is Not Even Close To Being Over'

CNBC: WHO warns coronavirus pandemic is speeding up as countries ease lockdown rules: ‘The worst is yet to come’

* “Although many countries have made some progress, globally, the pandemic is actually speeding up,” WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said during a virtual news conference.
* The virus has infected more than 10.1 million people around the world and killed at least 502,634 people, according to data compiled by Johns Hopkins University.
* “The single most important intervention is ... tracing and quarantine contacts,” he said. “Six months since the virus started, it could be like a broken record to say exactly the same thing, but the same thing works. Test, test, isolate, quarantine cases.”

The coronavirus pandemic is accelerating around the world as many countries that reopened their economies see a resurgence in Covid-19 cases, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, director-general of the World Health Organization, said Monday.

“Although many countries have made some progress, globally, the pandemic is actually speeding up,” he said during a virtual news conference from the agency’s Geneva headquarters. “We all want this to be over. We all want to get on with our lives, but the hard reality is that this is not even close to being over.”

The virus has infected more than 10.1 million people around the world and killed more than 502,000 people so far, according to data compiled by Johns Hopkins University. More than 60% of daily new cases came from countries in the Americas on Sunday, according to data published by the WHO.

"As for the scientific support for the use of face mask, a recent careful examination of the literature, in which 17 of the best studies were analyzed, concluded that, “ None of the studies established a conclusive relationship between mask/respirator use and protection against influenza infection.”"

Keep in mind that the COVID virus is larger than the influenza virus , but it still will go through the pores of a mask.

There are different masks. The N51 has very fine pores. And it is never about blocking all viruses or toxic matter. It is all about quantity. Check LD50. Anything in high enough quantity will kill you. Even water.

The N95 mask filters down to 0.3 microns

There is little evidence evaluating the use of cloth masks with respect to COVID-19 (estimated size 0.12 microns) specifically.

I understand LD50. LD50 explains why nursing home workers died when otherwise they had no risk factors.

I must say that Nancy Pelosi's color coordinated scarf mask is quite stylish although it is so sheer that it is useless in a stick up.
