President Trump Threatens To Veto Entire US Defense Budget Over Military Base Renaming Amendment

Daily Mail: Donald Trump threatens to veto entire defense spending bill if it includes plan to strip Confederate names from Army bases pushed by Elizabeth Warren with REPUBLICAN backing

* President Trump threatened to veto a massive defense bill over an amendment pitched by Sen. Elizabeth Warren and approved by a GOP-led committee
* Warren's amendment will give the military three years to rename the remaining bases that were named for Confederate figures
* Trump, facing a tough re-election challenge, has decided to stake out positions in the culture war that would attract his predominantly white base of voters
* He's railed against changing the names of military bases, such as Fort Bragg, for nearly a month, in the aftermath of the death of George Floyd
* Top Senate Democrat Chuck Schumer dared Trump to veto the bill, which includes a 3 per cent pay raise for the troops

President Trump is vowing to veto a massive defense bill to keep military bases such as Fort Bragg named after Confederate officers, swimming against sentiment in his own party and imperiling a 3 per cent pay raise for the troops.

Trump took to Twitter late Tuesday to threaten a veto of a $741 billion annual Pentagon authorization bill because it would require a host of military bases named after Confederate figures to be renamed within three years.

'I will Veto the Defense Authorization Bill if the Elizabeth "Pocahontas" Warren (of all people!) Amendment, which will lead to the renaming (plus other bad things!) of Fort Bragg, Fort Robert E. Lee, and many other Military Bases from which we won Two World Wars, is in the Bill!' Trump wrote on Twitter.

What Trump understands that the GOP doesn't is that you can't appease your enemies and expect them to become your friends.

The American people are not “enemies”. The truth is the confederates were the enemies. Killed more US troops than any one else. The only thing to celebrate about them is their surrender.

Antifa are enemies of the American people.

They shoot ordinary citizens driving in the streets.

Alabama had 3 votes on seceding from the Union. The majority of people were against seceding from the Union. So the Democrat Party did what it always does. It kept bringing the subject up until people voted the right way.

If it had not been for the planter class and the Democrat Party along with their ownership of the newspaper to propagandize the masses, there would not have been a damn war.

Get it thought your think, stupid head.

Marx had it partially right. People voted against their own interests due to the propaganda efforts of newspapers owned by the elite/planters.

If I were him, I'd say something to the effect of, I'll sign this bill when Yale renames its university (named after a slave trader). Put the lefties on the defensive for a change.
