Gallup: U.S. Leadership Remains Unpopular Worldwide
* Global leadership approval 33% for U.S. in Trump's third year
* Germany top-rated leadership, with 44% approval
* China's approval rating 32%, Russia unchanged at 30%
WASHINGTON, D.C. -- In the third year of Donald Trump's presidency, a new Gallup report shows that despite marginal gains, the image of U.S. leadership started the new decade in a weaker position globally than at most points under the past two presidents.
After tumbling to a record-low 30% during the first year of Trump's presidency, the image of U.S. leadership was not much better in the third year of his term. The median global approval rating for U.S. leadership across 135 countries and areas edged up to 33% in 2019. This rating is slightly higher than the previous low under Trump, but it is still one percentage point lower than the previous low of 34% under former President George W. Bush in 2008.

Ah yes. We were so much more popular with the Euros under Obama. I wonder why that was.
ReplyDeleteMaybe it was because Obama wandered into every treaty negotiation, trade deal, climate pact, military commitment and G7/G20 meeting with the sole purpose of being popular - well liked.
As opposed to actually inking deals that would benefit the United States and its citizens.
We were always much more popular as a door mat.
Great points Russ. Just look around you, America is doing super duper under the Trump administration.
ReplyDeleteThose other countries are just jealous.
`Let's talk a little media bias here,''
ReplyDelete``Inside Washington'' on July 11. ``The media, I think, want Kerry to win. And I think they're going to portray Kerry and Edwards . . . as being young and dynamic and optimistic and all, there's going to be this glow about them that is going to be worth, collectively, the two of them, that's going to be worth maybe 15 points.'' Just how lopsided is the pro-Kerry bias? When New York Times reporter John Tierney surveyed reporters covering the Democratic National Convention last month, the results were striking.
``We got anonymous answers from 153 journalists, about a third of them based in Washington,'' he wrote on Aug. 1. ``When asked who would be a better president, the journalists from outside the Beltway picked Mr. Kerry 3 to 1, and the ones from Washington favored him 12 to 1. Those results jibe with previous surveys over the past two decades showing that journalists tend to be Democrats, especially the ones based in Washington. Some surveys have found that more than 80 percent of the Beltway press corps votes Democratic.?''
If the press does not influence people's views for better or worse, then Bezos and iother billionaires are wasting their time.
So Obama gets elected and the perception is up 15 points in 2009.
Obama leaves and America is down 18 points. That really jives with with what we know of America's newsrooms.
Obama broke Libya into pieces and then walked away. He and his ass kissing acolytes called it smart power.
How Hillary Clinton made the tough call to back bombing Libya
Side note: Type Libya and "Smart Power: into a web search and the 1st page of returns has one entry for Obama and the rest for Hillary.
Did Hillary make the call to bomb Libya and not the 6 foot manly man Barack Obama?
Who was in charge? Madam secretary or the Commander in Chief?
German newspaper DW (Deutsche Well) is a government newspaper. You don't think that it doesn't slant news against America if the PM want it that way?
DW is a German public international broadcaster funded by the German federal tax budget
If the leader, whose brain does not work, because she outweighs an elephant, hates being rightly called on her defense treaty obligations, don't you think that DW and left leaning German newspapers will carry her water.
When a STEM professional sees a graph, they try to build a model. They try to see how much each independent variable contributes to the dependent variable. Out press corps and others are still back in the 19th century when it comes to charts.
AAtill can;t get over it.
Obama Breaks Libya into pieces. That is good.
Orange man Bad tries to pull out of Syria, Iraq, and Afghanistan and that is bad.
The US was doing Super duper under Trump. Look at January 2020. Then corona hit. Corona is nit his fault.
ReplyDeleteThe lockdown is the fault of Democrats. The Press and the politicians hunt like a pack of wolves. No verbal or written communication is required for those greedy slimeballs to coordinate.
Corona is so bad did you see Dr Fauci with his mask off sitting shoulder to shoulder with people at a baseball game?
7:41. You are a sleazy, no good bitch and even you know it.
Hey guys, how are things under the Biden administration?
ReplyDeleteJoe Biden is president, right?

ReplyDeleteYes, personally my family and social circle are doing fine. But I'm very troubled at the state of my country.
Lets get some things straight: If it weren't for a Chinese virus, determined Democrat incompetence in its handling, (I.E: NY state nursing home deaths), Democrat led state and city shutdowns geared to wreck the economy - and now Democrat led riots in Democrat led cities - we would be humming along just we were for the previous three years.
Oh, and as for Covid spread, what better vehicle than thousands massing in the street for weeks of "peaceful protests" then returning home to sew the disease for a second wave. BLM protests all perfectly sanctioned and legal. Can't even mention them in contact tracing. But no church services allowed.
Trump was going to coast to an easy reelection. No way the Dems could have that. So they carefully engineer a state by state economic shutdown to tank the economy. Also notice that any coverage of the "peaceful protests" has evaporated. The riots either all Trump's fault or they're a myth altogether. The Dems can't decide which.
Dems stridently refuse to open schools for the same reason - kids can't go to school, parents can't work, the economy conveniently continues to tank.
So if you believe Trump is the cause of these problems - which you do - you can congratulate yourself on being what is known as a useful idiot.
