Daily Mail: U.S. Navy sends a warship through the Taiwan Strait for the second time in two weeks - days after an American destroyer sailed near disputed South China Sea islands amid rising tensions between Washington and Beijing

* A U.S. warship transited the sensitive Taiwan Strait, Taiwan confirmed Monday
* Ship was on an 'ordinary mission' and situation was 'normal', the ministry added
* Comes days after a U.S. warship sailed near the disputed Paracel Islands

A U.S. Navy warship has transited the narrow and sensitive Taiwan Strait for the second time in two weeks.

Taiwan's Defence Ministry confirmed the operation on Monday amid rising tensions between China and the United States.

The ministry said a U.S. destroyer, which it did not name, had sailed in a southerly direction through the strait and was continuing to sail south.

The ship was on an 'ordinary mission' and the situation was 'normal', the ministry added, without giving details.

  1. Half the straight belongs to Taiwan.

    Then there is UN maritime law, which China is in opposition by voicing their condemnation.

    The British did the same thing with a straight off the coast of Albania after WW2. One of their ships hit a minefield. Nonetheless the point was made.

    If China keeps it up the only logical thing would be to cut off trade with such a bad actor. This is something a Bushie , RINO, Romney, McCain, Democrats , or Never Trumper would not do.
