World Reaction To The U.S. Elections

Washington Post: As the U.S. votes, the world watches with anxiety and hope

As Americans get ready to cast their votes to choose the president for the next four years, the whole world is watching closely, especially allies in Europe and rivals like Russia, China and Iran which could all expect a very different U.S. foreign policy depending on who wins on Tuesday.

Commentators in China hope for a respite with a Democratic administration under Joe Biden but fear that whoever wins, the new U.S.-China rivalry started by President Donald Trump might persist.

Pro-Kremlin media warn elections could lead to chaos and street fighting, predicting that Trump will be forced to retreat to his bunker after the vote.

Many European leaders are watching anxiously, fearing Trump would weaken or destroy NATO if re-elected.

In Israel, where Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has made much of his close ties with Trump, analysts wonder if a Democratic win might weaken the Israeli leader's long hold on power.

WNU Editor: Is the world watching the US elections with anxiety and hope? Not really. In places like Canada and Mexico the answer is yes (to a certain point). But elsewhere the average person is looking at the US election like Americans view elections in Europe and elsewhere. There is an interest, everyone has an opinion, but they are not anxious. The only international observers who I would say are really focused on the US elections are leaders and their governments that have a relationship with the U.S. (both good and bad), the international media, and (of course) the pundits.

On a side note. The Washington Post is saying that Russian media is warning elections could lead to chaos and street fighting, predicting that Trump will be forced to retreat to his bunker after the vote. I watch Russian media on a daily basis. I have no clue on what news broadcast the Washington Post is talking about. Russian media is more focused on what impact a Biden administration may have on U.S. - Russian relations. Not mayhem on the streets that will force President Trump to hide in his bunker.

The Washington Post is straight up lying in order to sway the vote. They will lie and know that their idiot readers will believe them.
