Chief Of Russia’s Space Program Can’t Stop Trash Talking SpaceX

Russian President Vladimir Putin (C) and state space corporation Roscosmos head Dmitry Rogozin (L) listen to Director of Russian rocket engine manufacturer NPO Energomash Igor Arbuzov in Khimki, outside Moscow. Credit: AFP.

Dmitry Rogozin offers up a chilly Siberian taunt: 'I wonder if gentle SpaceX is able to work in such conditions?'

He just can’t let it go.

For some reason, the chief of Russia’s space program, Dmitry Rogozin, can’t stop the trash talking.

He just can’t get over the fact, the he and his space pr0gram are not needed anymore — the US has moved forward — far forward, ehem — with Elon Musk’s SpaceX program, and its advanced smart rocket design.

Ergo, comrade Rogozin — who’s known for espousing unconventional scientific views — and for frequently sarcastic anti-Western rhetoric — has to get in a shot, any chance he gets.

WNU Editor: Memo to Russian space chief Dmitry Rogozin. SpaceX is the future.

  1. "Gentle" SpaceX obviously lives rent free in his mind much as Putin lives rent free in the minds of many Americans. I must admit and I'm pretty sure I posted about this here awhile back at the beginning I had my doubts that SpaceX could pull this off. I'm so glad that thus far they have. It was completely unacceptable to have to depend on the Russians and pay their exorbitant prices to get our people into space and to supply the "International" space station that we largely built.

Is SpaceX the future? Only time will tell. The future of space travel could well be something different entirely. I remember the manned space flight conducted by SpaceX around the time of the George Floyd protests. Unfortunately those protests largely overshadowed this amazing accomplishment.

If the US is to be a major world power, a viable space program is going to be vital. It will need to be viable for both military and civilian purposes. SpaceX appears to be on the right track and if this momentum can be maintained the US will have a space program that is on an elite level and could surpass Russia. Perhaps it has already.

Not bad for a "gentle" company. Congratulations SpaceX and keep up the good work!!

  3. Fusion,

How is the US not a major world power? Perhaps it is but it would be negligent to blithely assume it is.

A top flight space program is vital for a major world power. The US had lagged behind Russia and possibly China in this area for quite sometime. While SpaceX has performed amazingly thus far, I'm skeptical that a few successful missions have placed it on the level of Russia's space program. I would say we need to build on this. The head of Russia's program clearly seems worried!!

Militarily the US is worn thin from continuing fruitless operations around the world. Training and morale have suffered as well from all of this. Furthermore US military leaders have failed to obtain even a basic understanding of either ANTIFA or BLM. If they're unable to grasp these, I'm skeptical that they will be able to grasp major world powes such as Russia or China much less a mid-level military power.

The US had neglected its nuclear deterrent for quite some time. Candidate Trump rightly questioned whether our nuclear arsenal would work if we needed it. He went on to say that upon assuming office the first thing he did was to fix this. Did he? It's generally assumed that the nuclear arsenals of China and Russia are top of the line. It's also assumed other nations are rapidly acquiring nuclear arsenals. If our nuclear deterrent isn't credible, it's going to be problematic to deal with those who have them.

Economically the US is heavily indebted and heavily reliant on others for raw materials such as rare earth elements and manufactured goods. Additionally the average Canadian and Western European currently has a higher lifestyle than most Americans can currently expect to achieve.

Having the US dollar as world reserve currency has definitely been helpful. Unfortunately the reckless accumulation of debt as well as the reckless application of economic sanctions make it more likely than not in my considered opinion that that this will end sooner rather than later. The goal probably should be to try and ensure a "soft landing" as opposed to a hard one when the inevitable does occur.

Wisdom is to learn from Sun Tzu. To paraphrase, know your enemy, know yourself, and you win every time. Know yourself but not your enemy and for every victory you will suffer a defeat. If you know neither yourself nor your enemy, you lose every time

Applying this to today to often US leaders overestimate our capabilities while underestimating those of adversaries. This causes them to miscalculate and often causes both foreign and domestic policy to run off the proverbial rails. At present, the US is certainly very influential but it is not a "superpower, "hyperpower, "the indispensable nation," or other ridiculous adjectives that have been used to describe itp. Some may chafe at this realization but reality doesn't care about one's ideology. Understanding reality is vital to formulated correct policies as well as the execution of them.

Perhaps as a Canadian you find this all amusing "lol." To Americans such as myself this all deadly serious.

As Putin lives rent free in the heads of many Americans especially the leadership class, I seem to be living rent free in your head as you are continuing to slander me. You know the accusations are false by now or at least you should.

Now do you have questions about my analysis. SpaceX is doing great things which I clearly support. The Russian leadership seems clearly concerned which would have me in opposition to them. As such, I'm clearly not associated with them.

While SpaceX has done great things, I'm skeptical about the editor's gushing praise that they are the future. I think it may be premature to make such statements.

Questions about my analysis; even critiques, I'm all eyes. Perhaps I might even learn something. Childish insults such as "resident Russian troll" do not add value to the discussion.

Childish insults such as "Imposter" do not add value and only distract which is by definition trolling.

  7. Space X isn't the future.

The concept of privatized companies like Space X, IS the future.

Space will be the new frontier for privatization. Governments will struggle to try to regulate it.
