NYSE Reverses Plan to Delist Three Chinese Telecom Firms

HONG KONG/SINGAPORE (Reuters) - The New York Stock Exchange said it no longer intends to delist three Chinese telecom giants - a shock reversal of an announcement made only last week and deepening confusion over a U.S. crackdown on firms said to be linked to China’s military.

  1. I suppose I will need to remember this that executive orders are not orders at all. They are merely executive suggestions to be followed, ignored, or modified as we see fit.

Of course everyone is transitioning to the incoming Biden Administration anyway and the reality has likely sunk in by now that the Democrats are going to take the GA Senate seats effectively giving team Biden free reign. Since its known, that Biden likely would not support this at this time, naturally the NYSE acts accordingly. While I hope I am wrong about the GA Senate runoffs, we cannot make our decisions based upon "hope." They have to be made based upon what is most likely to happen. With this in mind the NYSE and others are positioning themselves for a Democrat controlled Senate.

As for POTUS, his primary focus is on either running again in 2024 or having a large role in selecting the nominee. As such, I doubt he really expected his EO to be followed or implemented. It's mainly for optics and/or letting his policy agenda be known.
