Russian Fighter Jet Conducts A Low Past Near The USS Donald Cook In The Black Sea

Washington Times: Russian fighter jet conducts dangerous 'low pass' of U.S. ship in Black Sea

A Russian fighter jet on Sunday buzzed past an American warship operating in the Black Sea, officials said, describing the incident as a dangerous, unjustified “low pass.”

The U.S. Sixth Fleet said the Russian jet flew over the destroyer USS Donald Cook, which is operating in international waters in the Black Sea.

Another destroyer, the USS Porter, and an American refueling ship, the USNS Laramie, also are in the Black Sea as part of an American-led effort to beef up defenses in the strategically vital region.

Russian military officials have protested the moves and over the weekend made their objections even clearer.

U.S. military personnel captured dramatic video footage of the Russian plane coming unusually close to the U.S. ship.

  1. Putins response to Joe Biden. They flew way closer some years ago when Obama was President in April 2016.

  2. Look at the engine smoke coming out of that fighter. That's true 1960's tech at work. That jet wouldn't last long in late 1960's air combat, see what the Vietnamese did to American jets for good examples.
Engine IR signature is off the chart.
Radar signature is off the chart.
That pilot is depending upon having nothing but lucky days if he survives 3 days of air combat.

  3. Simple response would be to shoot the harassing aircraft down. Zero tolerance would stop such shenanigans. But Biden lacks the will and the courage, as do his politically correct commie generals and admirals, who would rather give mentally ill service members sex change operations. THe US military will never win another war with such losers in charge.

    Noted. You have a point.

If I were to buzz a ship in a no threat environment, I would not send my stealth fighter and allow them to get up close and personal with all the various signatures;.

I would send a 2nd or 3th generations fighter. They could gather signatures they already have and they would be useless.

If I could wing it, I a would send a biplane. I might even arm the biplane with a torpedo. and fly it on the deck. See how close it could come before being detected.

"On 22 August, the three aircraft destroyed two U-boats, one destroyer and a replenishment ship present in the Gulf of Bomba, Libya, using only three torpedoes."

"Notable events included sinking one battleship and damaging two others of the Regia Marina (the Italian Navy) during the Battle of Taranto, and the famous attack on the Bismarck, which contributed to her eventual demise"

Biplanes with torpedoes sank WW2 battleships and carriers. They could sink a frigate or destroyer.

I would not run every biplane with torpedoes. Just every so often to keep it real. I would run the biplanes at night to try to keep the sailors up at night to disrupt their sleep.

In an approach a biplane could hide behind a tanker or cargo ship. It could give 2 destroyer 2 or 3 minutes of warning. The point would not be to actually fire during peace time but to make it known they could, to keep the opposing side on edge and fatigued.

A biplane could take out a destroyer and never ever touch it. It is lack of training, ops tempo, bad (but cheap; my fucking car is designed the same stupid fucking way) bridge design, and fatigue. I expect training under Joe Biden to suck. Gender Bender training will increase and professional training will decrease. I expect ops tempo to increase by people who never ever sent their sons into combat and would never ever think of it. We shall see.

Starting a war by shooting a fly by? I'll take you as a Chinese troll.

  6. You can't shoot a plane down, but you can ram ships and get away with it.

You can pawn it off as a game of chicken gone too far or on the other party.

IMO the Chinese will do this in the next 4 years.
