TORONTO -- Canada hit a grim milestone on Saturday when the country officially surpassed one million COVID-19 cases since the start of the pandemic.

WNU Editor: The variants are clobbering Canada, and we are not entering into a third wave. I live here, and there are not enough of us are vaccinated against this disease to limit its spread. It is going to be a very difficult month or two.

Are these actual cases or positive tests? I'm pretty sure each country does things differently.
ReplyDeleteHere in the US, the tests especially the PCR one are conducted in such a way that there is an extreme likelihood of "false positives" and the financial incentives within the system to count deaths as "COVID" make it a certainty that both cases and deaths from this are both vastly overstated.
Essentially no one who is paying attention and is not blinded by ideology takes our government statistics on this seriously. With that said this is a VERY SERIOUS disease and pretty much everyone has been affected either directly or indirectly by this. As such, we really need accurate statistics on this and the ones we in America have are definitely NOT accurate.
As for getting vaccinated, in the United States it is now quite easy. Due to the messaging surrounding this those choosing not to do so will soon be treated like lepers.
This nonsical logic and de ial is why your country got hammered to its knees by covid and we eradicated it for all intensive purposes.
DeleteWhat "hammered" us was the government response to this. The virus itself is a very real challenge. The government response has been far worse.
DeleteO have seen where Australia has far fewer reported cases than the US does. Perhaps your country avoided the political nonsense that we've had to endure.
Remember: the government response of mass "lockdowns" hammered America to it's "knees." Thr virus itself did not do this!!
Our response to this has likeky solidified China and Russia's position as the most powerful countries on earth. This is what a former coach of mine would've referred to as an "unforced error." They did not order this!!
Do you think you've eradicated this? If we learned anything from this, you DO NOT get cocky with this thing. It is VERY DANGEROUS. Remember when the Europeans were raking us (Americans) over the proverbial coals about our response to this thing.
Lesson: lockdowns do not work in slowing this down. Perhaps there's another goal here. We Americans endured one of the most brutal lockdowns the world has ever known. Maybe Australia did something different.
I'm glad your country thinks it has eradicated this. I pray your hubris doesn't come back to haunt you!! I really do. I've seen indirectly what this virus can do and wouldn't wish it on anyone!!
