India's surging Covid second wave still has two weeks to run before it reaches the peak of 500,000 infections a day, a senior virologist has warned as the country set a world record for daily infections for a fourth day in a row.
Shahid Jameel, director of biosciences at Ashoka University, said virus models suggest case numbers will continue to rise despite vaccination efforts. India recorded 349,661 infections and 2,767 deaths in the past 24 hours, with hospitals across the country turning away desperate patients after running out of oxygen.

Each country seems to report differently. I suppose this could be correct for India. In America everyone whose paying attention and isn't blinded by fear or ideology knows our cases and deaths are WAY OVERSTATED!!
I'd be interested to know who your Indian sources are. My first thought with this "spike" in cases was someone is trying to eliminate dissidents or to try and change the government.
