Massive Anti-Covid-19 Lockdown Protest In Montreal

WNU Editor: I showed up at the protest out of curiosity, and I was stunned by how many people were there. One local news media source says the line was two kilometers long, and there were about 30,000 people. I do not know where that reporter is getting his information, but from my vantage point (I was at the Olympic stadium) that line was far longer than two kilometers and there were definitely far more than 30,000.

Viva Frei (see the above video) believes the number was closer to 75,000, and I do not doubt him.

When I got home I checked the cable news and online coverage of today's protest, and noticed that the local media did cover it but downplayed the number of people that showed up (see the news reports below).

The national media has (so far) completely ignored this story ?!?!?!?

I did wear a mask, and I did keep my distance from everyone.

  1. In America the "lockdowns" and unscrupulous "experts" along with their ilk of so called health care providers who have ridden their coattails to try and obtain unbridled power, wealth, and influence has been a FAR BIGGER problem than the virus itself. Don't get me wrong. The virus itself is a major challenge. The government response is not only worse but actually undermines efforts to actually deal with it. For example, hospitality workers who have a wealth of experience in hygiene and cleanliness were not only completely shut out but war was declared on them!!

Thank God America has had some "red state" governors who have offered resistance to this nonsense. Perhaps Canada lacks this. Frankly once "lockdown" is completely taken off the table as a potential solution to this the better off we will all be.

  2. THE VIDEO YOU REFER TO IS FILMED BY SOMEONE FOCUSING ON "OUR NARRATOR" A GUY WHO TELLS US HE FORGOT HIS MASK (HE TELLS US) AND THEN WEARS ONE ON HIS CHIN...HIS GUESS IS WORTHLESS. WE SIMPLY DO NOT KNOW HOW MANY PROTESTED. DOES IT MATTER?
IDIOTS GATHER SANS SOCIAL DISTANCE AND SANS MASKS AND THEN?
IN L PLACES WHERE VIRUS DECLINING THE PATTERN IS MASKS AND SOCIAL DISTANCE AND STAYING FAR FROM CROWDS AND GROUPS INDOORS...ONLY THE INDIFFERENT, MORONS, AND HEAVILY INSURED DO OTHERWISE

  3. Fazman,

The "nonsense" of "lockdowns" in America has already costs more lives and inflicted more economic damage than the virus has or ever could and this is right now.

The mid to long range costs associated with the "lockdowns" in terms of grinding poverty it's inflicted on many and the mental health issues this causes aren't being accounted for. Remember mental illness eventually manifests as physical ailments often leading to severe health consequences.

As I've pointed out, each country is different and each will use different approaches. In America lockdowns haven't worked and we endured one of the world's most brutal ones and some "blue states" are still at it!!

For what it's worth, barring a successful vaccination program everyone is going to get this virus eventually. Locking down actually makes it worse. While it's certainly possible that lockdowns may have worked in Australia and New Zealand given our experience in America this seems very unlikely to me.

Clearly you are reporting fewer cases. O think other factors are at work here other than lockdowns. I submit the following hypotheses. 1.) Your government's have not politicized this to the extent ours has. Everyone in the US whose paying attention knows both deaths and cases especially deaths are ridiculously overstated. 2.) Perhaps your lockdowns were targeted toward at risk group's rather then a jack booted thuggish approach like our government took. I could go on but this is plenty long enough!!
