The Hill: Navy admiral criticizes defense contractors over lobbying efforts

Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Michael Gilday on Monday criticized defense contractors for “lobbying Congress to buy aircraft that we don't need.”

The Navy’s top officer made the comments during a panel discussion at the Navy League’s annual Sea Air Space conference.

His remarks appeared to be directed toward Boeing and its efforts to sell the F/A-18 Super Hornet. The Navy has asked Congress to phase out the older fighter jet, but the House defense budget includes $900 million to purchase additional Super Hornets.

  1. Gilday is nitpicking and going after low hanging fruit, so people won't go after him for an incompetent Navy. Gilday should ley the SOCOM commander tackle the problem and give him 3 months or a year and sack him, if he is not making progress. Next Gilday will be seen at on some ship for COMPTUEX and talk that up while the Chinese run circles around us and CRT destroys morale. Gilday will keep on talking out publicly and remonstrating others in a manner similar to a Portland or Seattle Mayor.

  3. Gilday is just the Navy version of Mark Milley. A political officer with no skills beyond saying politically correct things to be the last one the tiger eats, and no concern for the mess his service is in. He just wants to get his years in for a juicy retirement, and then he can get a seat on the board of directors of a defense contractor, like all the generals and admirals.

  4. Gilday and Milley are homosexuals.
