The meeting covered a "variety of topics on issues worldwide," said Col. Dave Butler, Milley's spokesman.

  1. Honestly, Russia has more nukes. Although that is changing, since China has more or will have more than 200 to 300. Under the logic that once you have to to destroy the earth once over say 1,000 to 2,000 and anything over that doesn't matter then China will be on par nuclearly in the next few years.

So reasoning that way won't carry water. While Russia/USSR di engage in proxy Wars, they were more circumspect than a person might believe. The supported North Korea, but it was North Korea that asked China and the USSR for permission and back up.

Cuba got Russia involved in Angola.

The Soviets told the Afghan communist leadership that they were going about it all wrong and were going too fast. The Russians did replace the Afghan communist leader, but it was after he ignored advice and started losing big time.

The Soviets are expansionist, but they looked for sure things. I do not see them precipitating a war, I do see China doing so.
