The secret offshore wealth of more than 300 world leaders, politicians and billionaires has been exposed in one of the biggest ever leaks of financial data. London in particular has suffered from a shortage of housing for years. Meanwhile, Russian oligarchs and similar scumbags from other countries (including China, of course), as well as governments and government officials, have invested multiple millions in upper class neiborhoods as a form of asset protection, driving prices so far upwards that only the super rich can now afford living in these neighborhoods. Worse still, they contribute NOTHING to the neighborhoods themselves, since the houses are in many cases left EMPTY, waiting for prices to rise yet further so that they can sell and make profits. Apparently, the UK government doesn't give a shit, because this has been going on for decades. In other parts of Europe, the US, Canada, etc, the story is much the same. I'd say that, in general, Western governments don't care much at all about their citizenry (so long as they continue paying their taxes like good little useful idiots) and don't rock the boat too much. Will behavior like this change with the Pandora leaks? If you think so, bless your heart and go back to bed. Sleep tight.
