Special Forces have been armed with a rifle so powerful it can blast helicopters out of the sky and blow apart armour-plated vehicles.

Made in Hungary, the semi-automatic rifle has a range of one-and-a-quarter miles, and features a barrel that retracts like an artillery gun back into the body of the rifle to absorb the enormous recoil.

Well, what about an A-10 plane?

It's not a mk2, it's a mk211. 65-100 per shot. it will ruit a light armored whatever. not good for tanks.

They will have to blast UAV's out of the sky!
Hope they have some smart ammunition.

The headline is just a tad sensational. It's a .50 cal bullet, and this particular cartridge has been in use for quite a while. Even with an explosive tip, it won't "blast helicopters out of the sky," or "blow apart armour-plated vehicles." It's a rifle caliber, not a 30mm artillery round, let alone a missile. If aimed carefully, it can disable a helicopter motor or kill the pilot. It can defeat light armor, but not, say, tank or personnel carrier armor.
