WNU Editor: While the world's media is justifiably focused on the battles for Kyiv and Khakiv, if the above maps are accurate, Russian forces are making the most gains in the southern part of the country. It seems that the only thing that is limiting them is their supply lines.
For the past few days I have found the Financial Times (the map on the top of this post) to be the best in mapping this invasion. The link is here (link here).
We are all fully aware that the South is having the hardest time. We also know that the use of Belarus is why. Units were rushed back to defend Kiev and this has forced the weakening of other lines. There were no more men or equipment to send South.
ReplyDeleteIf reports of Day 1 were true, a Single battalion is all that held the road to Crimea. Hopefully the mobilsation of another 100,000/200,000 reservists and volunteer Soldiers and the arrival of equipment through Romania will help to reinforce the line. Its a case of who can mobilise faster and can the Ukranians give its troops the equipment they need to hold the line and push back.
That is why the Russians are suspected of trying to take Zatoka. It would surround Odessa and cut off Romanian routes because Molodova won't let them through.
The biggest mistake of the last 2 weeks was probably Ukranian efforts not to provoke Russia. They probably should have mobilised their 300.000 reserves 7 days before the war.
Define "control"
ReplyDeleteThe reality is this: They are controlling shit and every day the resistance to this invasion grows. Even the elderly are now picking up arms.
This isn't going to work. It's over before it started.. all the fireworks and destruction aside. Putin has lost.
WNU EDITOR, please don't feel that you have to leave up cretinous, tub-thumping comments by buffoons like Flash and Anonymous, above. The world needs less mockingbird media gaslighting right now, if sanity is to prevail. I have appreciated your rational approach to this crisis. It is head and shoulders above the vacuous 'Putin is literally Hitler' one-dimensional shrieking that seeks to shut down informed dialogue.
