CBC: Quebec scraps planned tax on the unvaccinated
The measure was first announced by Quebec Premier François Legault in January
Quebec Premier François Legault says his government will not go ahead with a proposed tax on the unvaccinated, in order to protect "social cohesion" in the province.
Legault made the announcement at a news conference Tuesday, where he also eased restrictions on gyms and sports activities.
The tax, first announced in January by the premier, would have imposed a monetary penalty on Quebecers who are eligible but who refuse to get their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.
Legault says while his government has a bill ready to go, he's decided not to table it after seeing "growing discontent" in the population.

ReplyDeleteWhich is why Trudeau refused to meet with the truckers. He might be a coward. He might be arrogant. But I think part of why he refused to meet was that if he stopped their momentum (mo-mo), then public opinion would not shift against him and other big government types. He miscalculated.
The Trucker protest has legs.
(1) Some truckers washed the statue of the Terry Fox. This was a good move. The establishment was hoping to use it against the truckers.
Hopefully, some idiots who are on the fringe or not part of a protest are 'encouraged' to cease and desist.

This told me that the government will not be able to pick people off so easily and throw the book at them. They might still do it, but perhaps the populist wave will swamp them before they get or try to ruin too many people.
The important thing is that another profession another population segment joined or supported the protest.
Has the blockage hurt some factories? I hope it does. Hopefully, corporations will pay as much attention to the truckers as they do the BLM. However the Leftists pressure is more pervasive and long term. They are in the schools and media.
Oh I noticed. I also noticed Facebook has shutdown the American equivalent.
ReplyDeleteWhen do we get to shut down big tech?
