WNU Editor: There have been numerous calls for the International Criminal Court to investigate Russian military war crimes in Ukraine .... U.S. government formally accuses Russia of committing war crimes in Ukraine (CNBC). And it is getting worse .... Ukraine war: WHO says attacks on health facilities are rising daily (BBC).
I have seen the videos allegedly showing Ukrainian soldiers shooting and torturing Russian POWs. They are making the rounds on Russian social media with hundreds of thousands of views (if not more). Needless to say the Russian government is permitting the widespread dissemination of these videos as a warning to Russian soldiers on why they should not surrender. And while it is impossible to independently verify the content of these videos, I concur with a BBC reporter's conclusions that the Criminal Court will need to expand its investigations.
These recently uploaded videos of Ukrainian military war crimes can be seen here .... Shocking Videos Allegedly Show Ukrainians Shooting And Torturing Russian POWs (The Gateway Pundit).
Update: This follows a recent Ukrainian TV report of a doctor ordering his staff to castrate Russian prisoners .... Ukrainian doctor tells TV interviewer he has ordered his staff to CASTRATE Russian POWs because they are 'cockroaches' (Daily Mail).
In wars, the military is very often doing bad and illegal things.
ReplyDeletea distinction perhaps needs to be made between that which is done to enemy combatants and nonmilitary civilians.
Distinction? I would be careful there.
ReplyDeleteI have counseled my kids that if they are on the losing end that it is best not to be the first one to throw their hand up. When people's blood is up they are liable to kill you anyway.
The doctor is not in the heat of battle. When caught, he needs to sever a 20 to 30 years sentence and then executed painfully. I have read a lot about ancient and medieval times. I can think of a lot of things which are best left unsaid.
Invaders come to your town and neighborhood and destroy everything in sight that including non-combatants and children, their homes, and shelters. Who can blame them.
ReplyDeleteKarma does not blink at times like this.
The Karma concept is taken from the Indo civilization originally. I doubt you understand it.
ReplyDeleteYou are going to hold conscripts from one unit on one front responsible for what soldiers or conscripts from another unit are doing on another front?
You could use game theory to work out what happens, if Ukraine engages in war crimes if they win and if they do not win.
How many Ukrainians and Russians are married or a mixed (pardos or mischlings). How would you live among them?
Invaders starting a war forfeit their rights of prisoner of war under Geneva rules. It’s human nature.
ReplyDeleteInvaders starting a war forfeit their rights of prisoner of war under Geneva rules.
ReplyDeleteNot true. You are engaged n trolling.
Prayers for the Russian prisoners. Justice for the war criminals torturing the soldiers. Ukraine is not the good guys here, if they ever were.
ReplyDeleteThe anger of the Ukrainians against the Russian invaders is understandable, but any acts taken like this is wrong and stupid. You want Russian soldiers to surrender to you, not fight back because they fear what will happen to them if they surrender. You also want to avoid providing Russia any pretext for doing the same to Ukrainian POWs.
ReplyDeleteBut even in the best armies, revenge killings and torture happen. Hopefully what we are seeing are a very small minority of Russian POWs, and the Ukraine military will reimpose discipline on any troops who do this.

First post I've seen from WNU concerning war crimes in Ukraine, with his opinion attached, and lo and behold: it concerns Ukraine's crimes. Very telling.
ReplyDeleteWnu showing off Russian mentality at it’s finest. Enoch the hard headed donkey.
