Chinese President Xi Makes Public Appearance After Rumors Of A Coup

Xi has been absent from the public eye since he returned to China from a summit in Uzbekistan, driving unsubstantiated speculations of military coups in Beijing [File: Foreign Ministry of Uzbekistan/Handout via Reuters]  

Times Now: Amid ouster claims, Chinese president Xi Jinping makes first public appearance since SCO summit 

 Beijing: Amid reports about his ouster, Chinese President Xi Jinping made his first public appearance since returning to the country from Shanghai Cooperation Organisation meet several weeks earlier. 

As per updates shared by state media, the Chinese Communist Party chief had visited an exhibition in Beijing on Tuesday. 

Visuals and tweets shared on social media also indicated that the he had been accompanied by other top Chinese leaders including Premier Li Keqiang, Politburo Standing Committee leader Li Zhanshu, Wang Yang, Wang Huning, Zhao Leji and Han Zheng. 

Earlier this month the internet had been abuzz with rumours that the Chinese leader was under house arrest in Beijing and had been removed from his post in the CCP. The development also came at a time when Xi is seeking an unprecedented third term in office.
