Daily Mail: Russia 'suffers deadliest day of invasion yet with nearly a THOUSAND troops killed' as video shows panic-stricken soldiers fleeing on armoured vehicle which flips as it speeds away from Ukrainian attack

* Ukraine has claimed that 950 Russian soldiers were killed on Sunday as its forces continue to make gains

* It marks the deadliest day for Vladimir Putin's troops since Russia's the invasion began in back in February

* Footage has emerged showing panicked soldiers fleeing attack on armoured vehicle - only for it to flip over

* Comes as Russia tries to round up as many men as possible and push them to the front lines, regardless of skill

Nearly 1,000 Russian soldiers have been killed in one day in Ukraine, Kyiv has claimed, marking the deadliest day for Vladimir Putin since his troops invaded eight months ago.

Ukrainian forces have been making gains across Russian-occupied areas, with fighting intensifying in the country's east and in the southern city of Kherson.

In a blow to Putin's invasion, 950 Russian soldiers were killed on Sunday, pushing the Russian death toll up to at least 71,200, Kyiv has claimed.

I personally follow their reports everyday. But needless to say I am skeptical. And in the past few weeks I have found their reports very hard to believe like the claim that 1,000 Russian soldiers were killed yesterday. But they are a reference tool that all those who are following the war should check out each day.

As for those who want to follow the Russian Ministry of Defense website. It is unfortunately blocked for outsiders. This may change in the future, so the link is here https://eng.mil.ru/

  1. Ru MoD statements are boring and clearly written by boomers from USSR times.
Ukrainian statements are comical, in the tradition of Baghdad Bob.

  2. Either way Russia never factored the level of ukranian resistance, the effectiveness of nato training , and the deadly efficiency of weapons like Himars into the equation.

  3. 950 generals with one magazine.

  4. True or not should keep these things quiet either way. Doesn’t help on the battlefield

  5. Unless the battlefield you really care about is in western minds.

  6. These casualty counts - from both sides - are ridiculously inflated. For example, there were 15,000 confirmed Soviets killed in Afghanistan and it wrecked the country. There's reports out there of up to 80,000 Russians killed so far with a similar number of Ukrianians. A report of one million+ Ukrainians kidnapped and dragged to Russia. I don't believe these numbers for a minute. The social upheaval with that number of dead and otherwise would be apparent. But it isn't.

UKR is also credited for being some "mad skilz" internet and social media trolls on the battlefield. They're allegedly all over Telegram if you can access it. But I see it only occasionally.

Problem is the RUS/UKR video footage is sparse compared to the thousands of gruesome videos AQI/ISI put up from Iraq. You don't get a physical sense of advances or retreats. Just what is said by the govs of both countries. ANd on it grinds.

The main problem for me is the whereabouts and status of all the arms we've sent them. It's turning into another forever black hole.

  7. The Ukraine War took the day off at least in America.

]There is no ISW update. Halloween must be more important! (They must have kids or like to play dress up!)

  8. I hear Russ in Socal. It is good argument.

When the Russians were in Afghanistan and lost 15,000 dead, they were stretched thin. They were literally occupying Eastern Europe, they knew approximately how many soldiers it to to sit on them and keep them pinned.

Not sure if the loss of lives were more important to the Soviets or the cost. The Soviets were smart in that they told their Afghan counterparts that they were moving too fast with their revolutionary changes. This leads me to believe that they had some acumen.

I would believe that some weapons have been sold on the black market. Personally, I think those people should be prosecuted and then the CIA should shoot make them into jigsaw puzzle before trial starts. It might work better than putting them in prison.

However it is a war and these things happen. How else did we get the novel "Catch 22"?

Or movies/real life of drug shipment to the US during Vietnam.

The Ukrainians have been our best allies in the last 4 decades. They fight, bleed, and die, but actually hold and regain territory. You could say they are better than the South Vietnamese but that is comparing apples to oranges. The Democrat Congress forbade American air support of South Vietnamese troops after 1973 or they might have held up against the Soviet and PRC supported North Vietnamese onslaught a second time.

The Ukrainians actually supported us with troops in Iraq. The Germans did not.

The CIA used and abandoned the Ukrainians in the late 1940s and early 1950s. Are we suppose to repeat it?

  9. Wouldn't you prefer allies that advised against empire-straining foreign adventures.

  10. russia's INVASION IS an EMPIRE straining adventure. Otherwise they would have won by now.

IMO the cost of the Ukraine War is not a problem by itself. What is the problem is the huge welfare state and the profligate COVID spending used to hide porkulus and vote buying. The war spending is more like the straw that broke the camels back. By itself with a normal budget it is nothing. But you know the Democrats are mother fuckers.

But I appreciate your touching concern for America. We are all sure you have the most honorable of intentions.

BTW Russia is evacuating the west bank of the Dnipro. I think someone should stay behind to allow the others to escape. I nominate you Mr tough guy.

  11. Sir, just give me one HIMARS (unbeatable super-weapon of mythical power) and I'll hold back the entire entire western military from the Dnipro (including all marvel superheros and jedi).
