Gregoire Moutaux, was stopped on the Polish-Ukrainian border on May 21 with 125 kilograms of explosives, five AK-series assault rifles, two antitank grenade launchers, some 5,000 rounds of ammunition, and 100 detonators. Ukrainian officials claim he planned more than a dozen attacks.
Remix: Some weapons destined for Ukraine ending up with Finnish criminals
Weapons sent to Ukraine are finding their way across Europe
Organized crime is on the rise in Finland, and there’s a high demand for weapons. Criminal networks have already established weapon smuggling routes between Finland and Poland.
Europol, the European police cooperation organization, is reported to have warned in the summer that armed criminal groups could soon start smuggling weapons from Ukraine to EU member states.
According to Christer Ahlgren, superintendent of the Organized Crime Intelligence Unit of the Finnish National Bureau of Investigation (Keskusrikospoliisi, KRP), Europol’s prediction has already become a reality in Finland:
“We are seeing signs that these weapons are already in Finland, (…) and we have already seen signs that weapons delivered to Ukraine have been found in Finland,” Ahlgren says.

Update: Finnish Police: Weapons Bound For Ukraine End Up on Europe's Black Market (Moscow Times)
WNU Editor: Concerns about Ukraine becoming a smuggling hub for weapons to Europe first started this summer .... Flood Of Weapons Makes Eastern Ukraine Ripe For Arms Trade (RFE).
My personal concern is on shoulder-launched anti-aircraft missiles. Even before the war Ukraine was one of the most corrupt countries in the world. Coupled with the country also being one of the poorest in Europe, especially now, the temptation for someone to sell weapons like a shoulder-launched anti-aircraft missile to a terror organization for a few tens of thousands of dollars is a temptation that I am sure some would take.

ReplyDeleteHead eating the tail.
if Ukraine is so corrupt, how is that Russia did not steamroll over Ukraine?
ReplyDeleteIt is not only American weapons helping Ukraine, but Ukrainian developed weapons are better than Russian weapons. How is this possible if Ukraine is so corrupt?
Ukrainian tanks are better than Russian tanks? that is a microcosm right there that refutes the corruption narrative.
Russia has soooooooooooo many tanks and they are down awaiting parts.
11:08 is a really smart guy. I can tell.
ReplyDeleteBatteries degrade over time. 11:08 will retort that batteries can be manufactured to replace them. True.
Rocket fuel also degrades and is corrosive. Solid rocket fuel is a little harder to replace. It is why liquid fueled missiles is still a thing in some cases.
Then there are the circuit boards. They degrade too. I am sure the Pakistani military will help al Qaeda out here.
If the Pakistanis replace the battery, the rocket fuel and the circuit they have rebuilt the majority of the system. they very well could build their own from scratch.
why would they need 35 year old or older stingers, if they can make their own? For the serial number of course. they would be hoping that serial number marking would survive and explosion or the launch tube can be conveniently dropped at the launch site.
Seriously the Stingers are almost as long in the tooth as as British rifles form the 19th century and doubly so when you consider all the chemicals in the batteries, rocket fuel and circuit boards.
The stationary parts of a circuit board actually move over time. They creep and then the circuits are broken all over the damn place.

No doubt they are
ReplyDeleteSo what? So some of the weapons are diverted to transnational gangs. We can see of the CIA is decent at its job or if it is merely a praetorian guard for the DNC like the FBI is.
ReplyDeleteFun fact: the Praetorian Guard was so destructive to the peace of the later roman empire that it was replaced.
West Point CITC and others talk about transnational gangs and their dangers. The clueless MSM, politicians and others not talk about it much.
