Al Jazeera: US military reports rocket attacks on its patrol base in Syria

Attacks on the US patrol base come as tensions escalate on the Syria-Turkey border following a bombing in Istanbul.

The United States military has reported two rocket attacks targeting its patrol base in northeastern Syria, but said there were no injuries to its forces.

In a statement, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) said the attacks “targeted coalition forces” at its base in al-Shaddadi in Syria late on Friday.

  5. There aren’t but a couple thousand US troops inside Syria. Turkey doesn’t need nato nearly as much as nato needs Turkey. Turkey has a battle tested large army with sophisticated weapons. No push over.

  8. the solution is simple--USA get your military forces the fuck out of Syria. You have no business being there!

  9. Assad is not the legitimate ruler of Syria.

  10. The point is obvious.

Assad is illegit. He cannot tell anyone to do anything with any authority.

  11. He is not the legitimate leader? Who pontificates that notion? Who gets to say who stays or goes?
You have no case to articulate this idea.
One thing I do know. The US has no right to be in Syria. No UN mandate. No declaration of war. Nothing.
    an illegal and illegitimate action.

  12. Not so easy when you don't have air cover and its like a 5 year old trying to fight a 25 year old. The 5 year old may be in the right, but he does not have much of a chance. . and Why poke a bear when you do not have too. They have more to do than they can handle. Unlucky they are.

For the US. Enjoy your glory while it still lasts. Your time is not far off.

  13. That is good.

It was once a great country. A true bastion of Christian virtue with a propensity towards generosity and civilized behavior.

It is now become a portrait of Dorian Gray, a perverted, decaying creature with a hideous heart and malicious intent. Her current situation is untenable and will not last.

  14. The Americans are really doing nothing there except stealing oil and being unwanted occupiers of another nation.

  17. And the US gave the green light to deal with the kurds. How does that work?

    ReplyDelete
  18. If the Kurds had not been disenfranchised by British and French line drawing, the Turks,, and the Arabs, then those oil fields would be on land occupied by the Kurds since before Alexander the Great.

The Americans protect the Kurds form being wailed on by an illegitimate minority Syrian backed by Russia using Soviet era weapons.

When the ALawites took over the Baath Party cleansing it of Sunnis, the Syrian government lost all legitimacy.
