Russian Opposition Members Meet To Set Up A Government-In-Exile In Poland

Switzerland Times: Russian opposition members plan to form government-in-exile

Russian opposition members want to set up a government-in-exile in Poland

The first congress of Russian opposition figures who want to take over power in Russia after Putin’s fall is taking place near Warsaw. They plan to form a government in exile – and prepare to enter the Kremlin.

Russian opposition figures are beginning to plan for the post-President Vladimir Putin era.

They want to take over power after Putin – and are now meeting in Poland: near Warsaw, efforts by Russian opposition members who have fled to plan for the time after Putin in their homeland will be concrete for the first time at the weekend.

In the Warsaw suburb of Jablonna, a congress of former members of the Duma, who sat in parliament before the annexation of the Ukrainian Crimea in 2014 and want to move into the Kremlin after the intended overthrow of Russian President Vladimir Putin (70), will take place from Friday to Monday.

WNU Editor: I have hear a lot of stupid ideas in my lifetime, but this one takes the cake.

The Russian population is angry right now, and most now see the war in Ukraine and the collective West's involvement in it as an existential threat to Russia. This has even converted many who have opposed Putin in the past to support him now. If I was to venture a guess. I would say support for Putin in Russia is now easily between 80% - 90%.

So the idea that 50 former Russian parliamentarians, government officials and local politicians backed by corrupt Russian oligarchs who have run afoul by Putin are going to make a difference in the middle of a war is .... to put it bluntly .... a pipe-dream.

What will happen next is predictable. Putin and his government are going to use this Russian government-in-exile as evidence that the West is determined to overthrow the Russian government, and to install their own puppet regime.

If the West has any sense they should tell this first congress of Russian opposition figures who want to take over power in Russia to take a hike. But I know they will not. Even President Biden has made it very clear that Putin must go .... Biden says of Putin: 'For God's sake, this man cannot remain in power' (NPR).

Truth be told there are corrupt oligarchs on all sides. Putin is surrounded by them too. He R one.

Other than that WNU has a very valid point.

That's all you really need to know to get an idea of how he thinks.
