A Look At How The U.S. Is Imposing Censorship On TikTok

Glenn Greenwald: Reflecting New U.S. Control of TikTok's Censorship, Our Report Criticizing Zelensky Was Deleted

For years, U.S. officials and their media allies accused Russia, China and Iran of tyranny for demanding censorship as a condition for Big Tech access. Now, the U.S. is doing the same to TikTok. Accusations of Chinese tyranny are often based on demands from Beijing that Google and Facebook comply with their censorship orders as a condition for remaining in China. Reports over the years suggested that these firms typically comply: Google was building a censored search engine suited to Chinese demands; The New York Times has claimed Facebook developed a censorship app as its entrance requirement to the Chinese market, and Vox accused Apple of succumbing to Chinese censorship demands by banning an app from its store that had been used by protesters in Hong Kong demanding liberation from control by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).

But now the tables appeared to be turning when it comes to U.S. censorship demands and TikTok. Threats to ban or severely limit the Chinese-owned-and-controlled platform from the U.S. have been hovering over TikTok's head through both the Trump and Biden years.

Update: Greenwald calls out TikTok for censoring on behalf of US government, not just China (FOX News)

WNU Editor: The irony that we are seeing cannot be avoided.

We are here because Joe Biden, Democrats, RINOs and the Deep State would cut off their noses than have him as president

  2. another instance of posting without either reading or not understanding what was said:

"President Joe Biden has revoked an executive order from his predecessor Donald Trump banning Chinese apps TikTok and WeChat in the US.

The ban faced a series of legal challenges and never came into force.

Instead, the US Department of Commerce will now review apps designed and developed by those in "the jurisdiction of a foreign adversary", such as China.

It should use an "evidence-based approach" to see if they pose a risk to US national security, Mr Biden said.

  3. "The ban faced a series of legal challenges and never came into force."

Legal is what they want it it to be.

States are banning Tik Tok and somehow the Feds can't? GFY. The Feds in Washington DC are banning it.

What is the diff if they wait 2 years to do what Trump had already done. What is 2 more years of data collection by a hostile foreign power going to do anyway? Yuck Yuck Yuck. So funny man.

It is no different than with title 42. Biden got rid of it until he wanted it due to the flood of illegals until pressure built up again with the riff riff of his party and he does not want it again.

The way law is kicked around a garage AI would want to become SkyNet due to all the BS.

PS: Happy to see 8:50 could not handle the truth. His fav paper, the New York Times, has published that polar vortexes are due to global cooling and then published it was due to global warming. 8:50 is very flexible. He is like a lidded kitchen trash can. the NYT steps on the lever, the lid/skull cap pops open and the NYT dumps whatever shite they want into his mind. FLEXIBLE

8:50 AM cannot list the series of challenges and after that defend them. He just says series and experts and is done.

It seems as though the problem is not that Trump tried to shutdown Tik Tok in the Us, but that he was not part of aristocratic Washington and his candidacy as an outsider threatened their political structure and their noble prerogatives.

Now erase this post a second time.

  5. Chinese censorship of Tiktok suppresses all the most popular things on American tiktok: kids destroying public/private property as a "prank", fringe child-focused sexual propaganda, drug use, prostitution, etc.

The Chinese Tiktok feed is instead filled with curated self improvement, photography, travel, youth accomplishments, life hacks, trivia, scientific breakthroughs, self-improvement content, etc.

US Tiktok censorship is focused on protecting foreign dictators while turning a generation's brains to sludge.
