The US tried to prevent Ukraine from killing a high-ranking Russian military official at the onset of Russia's war in Ukraine, according to an investigation published Saturday by The New York Times.

In April, Russian Gen. Valery Gerasimov made plans to travel to Russia's frontlines, according to The Times. American officials found out about Gerasimov's plans but decided to keep the information from Ukraine.

  1. According to the West you cannot go against heads of state. Is that really a rule and if it is what stone tablet is it chiseled on?

Great Britain tried to assassinate Hitler a few times. While Admiral Yamamoto was not a political leader nor a head of state, he was targeted by the US.

Does Valery Gerasimov pass the Hitler test. Is he more valuable to the Ukrainian war effort alive?

If not, then the same rules apply to him as to Yamamoto.

  2. Ukraine might be lucky they didn’t succeed. Would have been quite the embarrassment for Russia, but would have led to a full declaration of war.

  3. /Who would want to assassinate that man? He looks so warmhearted and reasonable.

  4. If a man is a toady and obsequiously kisses up to the leader, it is a bad idea to take them out of the picture.

  5. "...would have led to a full decwaratshun of wah."

cuz it hasn't yet. only WNU has told us that Russia is on a war footing and has a war economy.

So what are non-Russians being threatened with exactly that has not already been threatened umpteen times?

I already know, but I want to hear it straight form the horses mouth.

  6. They're being threatened with the targeting of their own leadership, which up to this point have been allowed to walk around Kiev and film their Tiktok's freely.

Personally, it seems like a favor to the whole world if the oligarchs in every country woke up this morning to a hypersonic missile.
