WNU Editor: I am still hopeful and optimistic that there will be talks to end this war later this year. But many of my friends and family members in Ukraine do not. They are on the ground in this war and are seeing everything up close. They want to get out of the country right now.

  1. Who has an incentive to quit? Russia is busy creating new businesses in Asia, Africa, Middle East and South America leaving Europe behind. As time rolls on Russia can't gain much economic benefits with a peace treaty, but they can gain with an armistice, like we see with North Korea. A cold peace allows Russia to keep nibbling at Ukraine will playing great power politics with Germany and France and do some deals. US loses interests cuz lets face it, Ukraine isn't a vital national interest the way Taiwan, Japan, Australia or Guam have been for 70 years. Ukraine on the other hand is getting tens of billions of aid and military equipment for free! Why quit as long as they have the manpower? Once there is a peace all the free stuff stops dropping from the sky.
