Sergey Shoigu says the nation’s military should amount to 1.5 million servicemen
Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu has announced the need to make a number of structural changes to the country’s armed forces in light of NATO’s attempts to bolster its presence on Russia’s border and expand its membership to Finland and Sweden.
During a Russian Defense Ministry meeting on Wednesday, Shoigu proposed a number of measures to strengthen the security of the Russian Federation, including creating a special grouping of troops on the country’s northwestern border and expanding Russia’s armed forces to amount to 1.5 million servicemen in total, with some 695,000 of them being contract soldiers.

My heart fell when I read this news. This is another sign that we are all rushing back to the Cold War era of huge armies and massive defense budgets.
On a side note. It is not in the news yet. But a Chinese source that I have known for a long time and who I trust just gave me a heads-up that China is going to make a similar announcement soon. A massive increase in manpower for its Army and other services.
What I don't understand is that America is now outnumbered and outgunned and yet many Americans pride gets in the way of the truth. I have followed your blogging for many years now being an analyst from Australia and I do really appreciate what you do as sometimes you have saved me much more research and mind draining hours. Kudos to you my friend, and stay safe. The unthinkable will happen to America in the coming years. China's government believes strongly on MAO where if you destroy an enemy in their own country, I'd they come back from it then it will be better for them. Use Japan as an example though that wasn't China obviously. China sent nuclear armed subs out a few years ago in pre empty for war with the west so they're not afraid to launch, they'd prefer risk of nuclear fallout rather than America ruling. They also have Russia, India, Iran, all of south America and of course Korea who may take the fall and blame for the act when it happens. Just stay safe brother and when you can leave America
