Russia Warns The West That Supplying Depleted Uranium Munitions To Ukraine Will Be Viewed As Nuclear 'Dirty Bombs'

Daily Mail: Russia says it will consider the deployment of German Leopard 2 tanks as the use of a nuclear 'dirty bomb' if they use shells containing uranium core 

* Kremlin claims Ukraine and West could arm Leopard 2 tanks with 'Silver Bullets' 

* The uranium-core weapons were used in Iraq but are now largely discontinued 

A Kremlin official has warned that Russia will consider the use of any depleted uranium weapons in their new NATO tanks as nuclear 'dirty bombs'. 

The West finally agreed to arm Kyiv with dozens of state-of-the art tanks yesterday, modernising the attritional warfare seen on the battlefield in the past 11 months. 

Konstantin Gavrilov, head of Russia's delegation on the OSCE forum on security cooperation, claimed that Ukraine could arm their German-supplied Leopard 2 tanks with 'uranium core armour-piercing' shells.

WNU Editor: Apparently US officials are not commenting on whether they are shipping weapons/ammo with depleted Uranium shells to Ukraine .... US official declines to say if US will give Kiev depleted uranium ammunition for Bradleys (TASS). But this is nothing new. There have been concerns since last year that NATO is shipping such weapons to Ukraine .... Are France and NATO Shipping Depleted Uranium Weaponry Into Ukraine? (Europe Reloaded).

    They are great munitions, will cut though just about anything, but nasty

    I bet the US has a lot of this stuff in storage that it cannot wait to get rid of

  4. A Russian Defense Ministry bulletin said Russian T-80BV tanks would be armed with these powerful munitions, according to Russia’s TASS news agency. The bulletin noted that “the T-80BVM (the letter M stands for ‘modernized’) features ‘the improved weapons stabilizer and the loading mechanism for the 3BM59 Svinets-1 and 3BM60 Svinets-2 munitions.’”

  6. Soviet tanks used 3BM-32 Uranium core projectiles, it is likely Ukraine still has these in their inventory
