Russian Officials Not Invited To Auschwitz Camp Liberation Commemoration

BBC: Ukraine war: Auschwitz anniversary marked without Russia

For the first time a Russian delegation was not invited to a ceremony marking the liberation of the former Auschwitz-Birkenau Nazi death camp in modern-day Poland.

Russia is usually represented at the event, as the camp in occupied Poland was liberated by the Soviet Army.

But this year, following Moscow's unprovoked invasion of Ukraine, the Auschwitz-Birkenau museum declined to invite Russian officials and its director likened the Ukraine war to the horrors of the Holocaust.

In response, Russia accused the museum of attempting to "rewrite history".

Update #2: Auschwitz liberation marked without Russia, as European peace again shattered by war (Times of Israel)

WNU Editor: My father served in the Soviet Army during the war, and on two occasions he visited two camps a few days after they were liberated. He told me that what he will always remember is the smell of both places. Needless to say a lot of Red Army soldiers were killed liberating these camps, and many who died in these camps were also Slavs.

And now we have this. 78 years later the Polish PM accusing Russia of building new camps .... On Holocaust Day, Polish PM Accuses Putin Of Building 'New Camps' (AFP).

    1. Very true, considering how things went and are going after the fact, the German and Russians would have been better off working together. Germany being destroyed from within by bad immigration standards and liberalism and Russia being destroyed by lideralsm from the outside. This world is screwed and like it or not, Russia has become the last light of hope for the side of good. “A New Hope” if you will

  8. I have not lost my mind. You have lost your morals.

The Russians got to Warsaw and just sat and waited until the Poles and Germans were done fighting.

    That is massacre by omission.

    RUSSIA is #GUILTY

"The Home Army offensive began in the afternoon of August 1, 1944. The uprising was expected to last about a week and was seen largely as a “mopping-up” operation. This turned out to be a miscalculation. The Germans decided to make a stand and defend “fortress” Warsaw as the Soviets halted their offensive. The uprising lasted not one but nine weeks

The Warsaw Uprising failed because of lack of support from the Soviets and British and American unwillingness to demand that Stalin extend assistance to their Polish ally. The Soviet advance in Poland stopped on the Vistula River, within sight of fighting Warsaw.

Simply put, the Soviets had no interest in assisting the Home Army to liberate Warsaw. The Soviets were planning to annex the eastern half of Poland, first occupied in 1939 under the provisions of the Molotov-Ribbentrop agreement, and to exercise control over the rest. The Western Allies had secretly agreed to these points at the conference in Teheran in December 1943. "

  9. "Soviet troops “liberated” Warsaw in January 1945, Poland’s capital was a vast desert of hollow-shelled buildings and rubble."

The Soviets (Russians) could have liberated Warsaw in September, October, November, or December.

Russian logistics were not that bad. Not with all the trucks and jeeps the Americans shipped to Russia

Plenty of guilt all around,. Americans too.

Timid, dumb ass FDR would not even send a sharply worded protest.

"In the end, the Allies did virtually nothing. FDR even turned down Winston Churchill’s suggestion for a strongly worded joint request to Stalin for help."

  10. Yes that old Georgian Uncle Joe was a crafty one. Worthy of emulation.

Here's a good one right up uncle Joe's ally.

We pump huge amounts of propaganda money into the neighbor of our targeted enemy. Then once we have formented hate and fear of the neighbor, we stage a coup and put our people in place.

Then we have our puppet make all kinds of laws against the ethnic citizens who live in our country to try and provoke our target. This goes on for years until the targeted neighbor finally loses patience and attacks.
Then we sit back and watch while the puppet state and the target kill each other.

Yes. The spirit of uncle Joe in Poland lives on.
