Pentagon Report Says Military Bases Should Stop Selling Guns To Soldiers Under 25 To Prevent Suicides

FOX News: Pentagon panel recommends bases stop selling guns to troops under 25 to fight suicides

Independent Pentagon panel also recommends creating national database tracking firearm purchased on Defense Department property

An external evaluation of suicide in the U.S. military has produced a report calling for greater gun control restrictions for troops.

The Suicide Prevention and Response Independent Review Committee (SPRIRC) was formed by the Department of Defense in March 2020 to help combat the rising rate of suicides among servicemembers.

In the committee's report, released Friday, the independent body recommends, "On DoD property, raise the minimum age for purchasing firearms and ammunition to 25 years."

WNU Editor: Firearms are used in 66% of suicides among active duty troops, 72% among reservists and 78% in the National Guard.

Also from the report .... The suicide rate for active-duty service members in 2021, the most recent data available, was 24.3 per 100,000 people, which was down from 28.7 in 2020, the highest active-duty suicide rate since the Defense Department started tracking the data in 2011.

The report is here ... Preventing Suicide in the U.S. Military: Recommendations from the Suicide Prevention and Response Independent Review Committee.

  1. Foolish approach, as to be expected by a US entity. To stop suicides, improve morale. Stop drug abuse. Stop political indoctrination. Make military members feel valued. Allow them sufficient salaries as to raise a family. Give them hope for the future. Hard to do in the corrupt West, where the young despair for their future--by design I might add.

  2. Agree with above comment

I'd commit suicide too if my leaders lie and willfully accept this clear attempt to bring down the West with gender confusion, racial wars and violations of the constitution.

If you finally arrest the guilty and stop the corrupt and treason, THEN you will see a massive boost in morale.

But when the top team is a bunch of corrupt mass murdering globalists and thieves, tied to pedo and drug rings, then of course you see terrible group performance and morale

  3. Military is a wreck across the board. Just a back door way to institute GUN CONTROL legislation into the military. The problem is piss poor leadership starting with the Loser In Chief Milley. Milley is a traitor who turned on Trump and even called China to inform them he'd call if we attacked.

Could you imagine being called by the JCS, thousands of US military kIA because your boss Milley is a traitor? Don't even get started with AUSTIN,
that dopes to busy chasing Phanton White Surpremacists.

Then add in all the anti-white crap being instituted, CRT, DEI, quotas of less qualified officers and NCO's in charge??? I'd run to or just call it a day and suicide out.

Add in horrible morale, poor or non-existent traing, the trapped feeling of no chance for advancement becase your race happens to be white, or your a republican or Trump Suppoerter, out you go.

I'm surprised we don't have an epidemic of soldiers becoming active shooters and killing their leaders. I don't think we are far away.

  4. This was a recommendation by a committee assigned to study the problem.
They may have had more recommendations than just this.

But are you surprised? The military , like most of the power structure in this country are like crack addicts for inadequate solutions.

They focus on symptoms, not root causes.
Taking guns away is trying to treat a symptom, not a solution.

  5. It's a mental illness, I'm sure this is in every military across the world. Not just the USA, but since this article is basically about the USA. If I'm wrong every person is issued a weapon when passing the training. Name a country that has not had this issue. So, I can be well informed by my peers.

  7. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suicide_in_the_military

According to this the suicide rates can be as high as 190% relative to whats expected of the general population, but the only militaries reporting on these stats are US, UK, Canada, and Australia. Basically all operating under the same standards, utilizing similar support services, and fighting in the same wars.

For comparison purposes it would be interesting to get some data from countries that have seen recent combat like Russia, as well as countries that haven't like China. Without that data it's difficult to pinpoint what could be done differently.

  8. It is not that the west is hopelessly corrupt. Its leadership is just stupid. Needs fixing.

And what do you want to do? leave? And where will you go to escape the progressive liberalism ltbqt cultural wave?

Sooner or Later it will catch up with you.

Be patient, after the Russians fall, these so called democracies will turn fully inward to wipe out their
uncooperative non-conforming enemies within. Then you will get you chance to fight.

  9. You can't escape anything it's done and set in stone at this point. The west is starting to fall because of Liberalism. Not saying there is no extremist on both sides, but I believe at this point Western culture is dead. Not saying we can't bounce back, but at this point I don't know. It's too far gone and western culture so confused.
