DW: 50 million people trapped in 'modern slavery' — report

The number of people living in modern slavery has risen sharply in the last five years, according to a new report. North Korea and Eritrea have the highest rates in the world.

There has been a significant rise in the number of people becoming victims of modern slavery in recent years, a new study published in London on Wednesday shows.

  1. I’m an economic slave here in Canada. 45% of my income goes to taxes, my cost of living is exploding and my wages went up three percent over the last five years. WTF!?

    1. Oh, have they gotten better about bringing over lower caste slaves and holding their passports, sometimes impregnating the younger ones by mistake, one assumes.
All while brings by them over to clean their slums and wash dishes with H-1B visas.
There have been more than five. I guess I'll look since you made it so easy.

Naturally, most of the names are withheld as the victims are victims of a heinous crime.

I didn't say that the people of India who live here are all slaves or slaveholders. But it is very ingrained in their culture. Thankfully, the children who grow up here are definitely not inclined toward that, being Americans at heart.
