France 24: President Joe Biden's national security adviser to visit Saudi Arabia
President Joe Biden's national security adviser said on Thursday he will travel to Saudi Arabia at the weekend for talks with Saudi leaders as well as Indian and Emirati officials.
"This weekend I will be in Saudi Arabia for meetings with its leadership," Jake Sullivan said in a speech to the Washington Institute for Near East Policy, a think tank in Washington.
Sullivan's trip, which starts on Saturday, comes as relations between Washington and Riyadh have been strained since Biden's visit to the kingdom in July 2022, even though the two countries are collaborating in many areas, including recently on the crisis in Sudan.
"My (United Arab Emirates) and Indian counterparts will come to Saudi Arabia as well for meetings so that we can discuss new area of cooperation between New Delhi and the Gulf as well as the United States and the rest of the region, fueled in part by the comprehensive economic partnership signed last year between India and the UAE," Sullivan said,

Update #2: US national security advisor to meet with MbS (The Cradle)
WNU Editor: U.S. - Saudi relations are the worse that I have seen in my lifetime. This trip by US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan is going to change nothing, and neither will US Secretary of State Blinken's trip to the Kingdom next month .... Biden’s top national security officials plan separate visits to Saudi Arabia (Bloomberg).
Good relations and diplomacy is built on relationships. There is none between US President Biden and Crown Prince Salman. In fact, there is nothing but contempt between the two leaders. The only reason why they are still talking to each other is because there is they do share some common ground on certain policies.
The fist bump said it all in a language the whole world understands. The only story here is the carbon footprint this wasted trip had on the planet. 🌍 💨 ☠️

ReplyDeleteThis trip will change something. Pencil necked geek will make them worse if only be little bit. It would be best to lave well enough alone unless you are going to make things better. The prince at the very least will be annoyed at having his time wasted.
During the Afghan War, the Saudis matched US contributions to the Mujahedin. It was said that the Saudis were slow sometimes matching the American amount. the Saudis had deep pockets, but it hurt. So an American diplomat would fly in glad hand or whatever and the Saudis would match,. they were tardy,, but they never refused.
Could Jake Sullivan, Anthony Blinken or Joe Biden do that today?
Trump would have a decent shot at it. but a holier than thou Democrat?
Now that you kinda mention it, it’s possible Sullivan is over there to threaten the Saudis. The US after all is the king of creating internal instability within nations and regime change.
Deletestop the nonsense about what Trump[ could do--but never did. He lost. Ever wonder why?
