Zelensky Pressures Nato Leaders To Speed Up Ukraine's Bid To Join The Military Alliance

Reuters: Ukraine wants 'clear' decision on NATO future at July summit, Zelenskiy says

(Reuters) - Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said on Thursday Kyiv wanted to receive a "clear" decision on its future in the NATO military alliance when the bloc's leaders meet in Vilnius in July.

At a summit of over 40 European leaders in Moldova, he also said he wanted progress on Ukraine's path to the European Union, which Kyiv applied to join last year after Russia launched its full-scale invasion.

"This year is for decisions. In summer in Vilnius at the NATO summit the clear invitation to the members of Ukraine is needed and the security guarantees on the way to NATO membership are needed," Zelenskiy said.

"In (autumn), on our accession to the EU a clear, positive decision is needed. And we are also preparing for a Peace Summit, which will guide the world to jointly implement the peace formula," he said.

As to what is my take.

The priority for the Ukraine government right now is to get NATO more actively and directly involved in the war. All of my contacts in Ukraine are telling me the same thing. This Russian war of attrition has revealed one indisputable fact and that is time is not on Kyiv's side.

  1. How incredibly selfish does one have to be to think it’s a good idea to draw the world into a conflict, potentially ending in a nuclear one, all because of one’s hatred of all and anything Russian? What am I missing here?

  3. Reember, He did in Nov of 2021. The ukies had been poking at the ruskies pretty hard and the ukies had reniged on the Minsk agreements., then they put that Army on the donbass border.

Zelinski knew what was coming then and it happened within 3 months in FEB of 22.

Now he is doing it again.
Another " NOT GOOD" sign that major things are about to happen this summer.

  4. He just wants to bring NATO into the conflict while avoid all the previous issues that kept Ukraine from joining in the first place. Did people forget that it was being held up due to opaque governance, law of civil rights protection and high levels of corruption.

  8. Trump made it clear to NATO and Russia that Ukraine was never joining NATO under his watch. Biden broke that promise. Under no circumstances should Ukraine be promised NATO membership. That can only come when a durable and lasting peace exists.

  9. Trump this; Trump that. go to hell you russian who wears lavender pants.

the second law of thermodynamics says any system will gth including the american one. when exactly or how or how long is another matter.

so here you are helping things alon and you do not like the way the cookie crumbles. adam smith would have something to say about that.

you are not as smart as you think you are, yet you keep pushing. as i have said many a time. lay your cards on the table. admit to what you have done in america pertaining to corruption, subborning and pay offs

I voted for and against Trump in the same year. I think if he gets elected, Trump will actually stop birthright citizenship by illegals and others. I applaud that. There are other indicators though that De Santis is better. Trump seemingly pulled a Kamala. He might be past is sell by date.

at any rate i am good gut with a wW3 since i have a survivor of communism in the household. I fear for your fate. I do not think you will cut it in the new world

  10. Trump never did a thing that Putin did not approve of so to say that he promised that Ukraine would not join NATO is sheer nonsense.

No Fred is preferable. Debating Fred is like taking a sucker away from a baby. There is no skill needed.

What Trump made clear (ha ha) to Russia etc is of no consequence. That is why he lost the election and the next president does not have to follow his Putin-kissing stupidity, nor does NATO have to depend for advice on what a rejected former president has said.

  15. You realize that a waiter at Denny's has a more important job than a college professor and pay in succeeding years will trend that way.

Kids are not showing up for class anymore and still turning in papers an hour after they are assigned. so why did we did professors again? Pray tell.

    Welcome to the digital revolution.

  16. oh, my. we do not need college sayeth the dropout. I just found out they have waiters at Denny's.
We don't need professors anymore. That is why we will do away with lawyers and doctors and scientists and West Point teachers: we no longer need professors. And those working in intel and computer science and data science? nah. no profs needed.

    Another is the AI revolution.

Doing away with lawyers would be a step forward. We can use AI.

  25. "The Monocrystal plant is burning in Shebekino, Belgorod region.
It is reported that there were military tankers at the enterprise. Now the "second army" will be left not only without shells, but also without fuel.
*Monocrystal is one of the world's largest manufacturers of artificial sapphires. They are used in the electronic and optoelectronic industries."

I expect more mysterious fires in the USSA and USSR, at some point the rulers of the universe will get tired of plants blowing up in the Us and close the borders.

Russians better be careful what they blow up. If it hits a plant and impinges on the moolah of one of TPTB in the US, the border will be sealed sooner rather than later.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Situation is not under control. Russian officials are burning documents in Belgorod.

That makes no sense. Why burn documents unless you were doing something illegal like the STASI?

I do not understand why Belgorod is still a thing after 1 to 3 days. But here we are a week later and it is ongoing and worse. That has me spooked. If assholes beat assholes the assholes left standing will be insufferable.

Whoever thought the MoD, Kremlin and Ivan were a bunch of candy asses?

I thought Belgorod had defenses built.

So why did they not work?

  29. You miss the main point. Zelinski is losing and he knows it.

How can I say this. Because of two factors, slav hard headedness and slav pride.

If he had a good chance of winning this war he would be saying.

We do not need you. You are a bunch of cowards and we will defeat this enemy on our own.

But instead, here he is again, a year and a half later, begging to get into NATO and cursing those who do not help him..

    Sadly

He is the drowning man. And has very right to castigate those who watch, standby and watch him slowly die.

Watch because in three months, this thing will probably be decided, in that the battle lines will be fixed and stay fixed for years to come.

But that does not mean there will not be a shadow war. Like North and South Korea after the cease fire in 1953.... they had infiltrations and artillery duels all the way up to the 1970"s.

here it will be the same.

Watch the Odessa salient. Russia will either have to take that area to have a land bridge to its troops in the Transnistria, or pull these troops out.

It will be interesting to see what they decide.

  34. The Belgorod thing is no different than all the other spectacle pinprick attacks.

The white house gets a heads up on what's about to happen, the state controlled corporate media prepares their stories, and then some one-off insignificant attack happens and the Ukie bots receive their new programming from Hannity and Anderson Cooper:

*Ammo dump gets destroyed by HIMARS somewhere near the frontline* "Heh, Russia is out of ammo now.

*A quadrocopter lands on the fuselage of an AWACS aircraft and then flies away harmlessly* "Heh, Russia can't conduct offensives now."

*Drone lights a privately owned oil tank on fire in Crimea* "Heh, Russia is out of fuel now.

*50 mental patients go on a suicide mission to Belgorod* "Heh, Russia is evacuating from their own country now.

You see all of these little social media events referenced constantly by the typical bots on here for weeks after they've happened. As if the singular events are trends that are happening every day and shaping the battlefield. Until the next exciting new tale gets injected into their facebook feeds and they completely forget about the previous one.

*Troops get sent from do-nothing posts to areas of the battlefield that they'll actually be useful* "Heh, the Kola peninsula....."

    ReplyDelete
  35. Cannot disagree with that one. Large significant events are ignored and little splashes in the pan are exaggerated.

This ukie offensive is the same way.
Oh.... the ukie attack will take huge tracks of land and possibly liberate all of donbass

So 9 brigades at 1/2 to 3/4 strength filled with untested newbies are going to attack an complex obstacle belt with no air cover and limited artillery? Then they are going to attack a force larger than themselves and be a total success.

The amount of wishful thinking and hopium in this line of thinking is insane.

Talk about taking facts and twisting them to support a speculative belief.
