U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham Boasts That 3% Of The US Defense Budget Has Destroyed Half Of The Russian Army

The New Voice of Ukraine: Ukraine used 3% of US defense budget to destroy half of Russian army — Lindsey Graham

Having spent less than 3% of annual U.S. military budget in security assistance, Ukraine managed to cut Russia’s combat capacity in half, U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) said at a press conference in Kyiv on Aug. 23.

Earlier on that day, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with three U.S. senators visiting Kyiv — Richard Blumenthal, Lindsey Graham, and Elizabeth Warren.

According to Zelenskyy, the discussion focused on improving Ukraine's defense capabilities.

"Discussed the situation at the front and the urgent issue of further strengthening Ukraine’s defense capability," the president said in a Facebook post.

At the press conference, Graham highlighted that the United States had spent less than 3% of its annual military budget to aid Ukraine in its war against Russia. He noted that the Ukrainian Defense Forces "have destroyed half of the Russian army."

WNU Editor: For the past year US politicians, military leaders, pundits, and the main stream media have been pushing the narrative that the Russian army is finished .... they have run out of missiles/artillery shells, and equipment, while suffering hundreds of thousands killed and wounded. Of course the situation on the front is different, and I certainly do not see the Russian army degraded to the level that US Senator Graham is boasting about.

But U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham does have a point.

The US spent almost $8 trillion fighting the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, but they have only spent a small fraction of that for the war in Ukraine. The US can pump tens, if not hundreds of billions more to support Ukraine in this war, and they can do it for years. I know that the sentiment in Moscow is that they are expecting this type of US commitment, which is why some Russian commentators are now saying this war can last for ten more years.

But at what cost?

Senator Graham looks at this war from a financial point of view, but in Ukraine this expenditure of 3% of the US defense budget has destroyed the country. Sighhhh .... A third of the country's population has now left, the infrastructure is gone, hundreds of thousands killed and wounded, and should the war end today, the eastern part of the country will be a wasteland of unexploded ordinance and U.S./British depleted uranium shells.

Not bad for 3%.

  2. Tokmak is about to be under siege and Pope Pious the 69th is proclaiming Ukraine's incipient loss.

The Chonhar bridge was replaced with a pontoon bridge. As Tokmak is enveloped and Russians are wishing command had left them in Kherson Oblast instead of desperately reinforcing Zaporizhzhia Oblast, Chongar pontoon bridge will be blown.

    Supplies will come from where?
