Zimbabwe’s President Mnangagwa Wins Another Term. The Opposition Has Rejected The Result

Washington Post: Zimbabwe opposition cries foul after leader Mnangagwa wins second term

NAIROBI — Zimbabwe’s opposition on Sunday accused the ruling party of “blatant and gigantic fraud” after authorities declared the incumbent president the winner of last week’s election, despite allegations of voter intimidation and a crackdown on government critics.

The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission, whose members are chosen by the president, announced late Saturday that President Emmerson Mnangagwa had won a second five-year term with more than 52 percent of the vote.

According to the commission’s results, opposition candidate Nelson Chamisa garnered just 44 percent.

The elections were held on Wednesday and extended into Thursday after some regions, including the capital, Harare, did not receive their ballots on time.

  1. /I'm sure it was all perfectly legit. The "win" conveniently extends the ZANU-PF party’s 43-year rule. They already ran their white farmers out of the country so that blame is expired.

/I'm sure they'll be joining BRICS very shortly. On the 'food insecurity' approach.

  2. The Europeans and Americans are to blame for that abortion.

That country , when it was Rhodesia was one of the most productive and prosperous counties. Since it became Zimbabwe, that country became and remains a basket case.
No one admitted they were wrong, no one will apologize or accept responsibility for all those who died in the last 40 years

"The Europeans and Americans are to blame for that abortion."

Yeah, I guess. By giving them the "independence" they'd been demanding and immediately turning it into a Strong Man's paradise.

South Africa is racing down the same path.
