Russian Airport In Dagestan Stormed By Pro-Palestinian Protesters

BBC: Anti-Israel mob storms Dagestan airport in Russia

Israel has urged Russia to protect "all its citizens and all Jews" after a large mob stormed a Dagestan airport, some shouting antisemitic slogans.

Video footage apparently from the scene shows an angry crowd running in the airport in Makhachkala, reportedly seeking people arriving from Tel Aviv.

Some of the crowd ran onto the runway and surrounded aircraft there.

Russia's aviation agency said the situation was under control after authorities had arrived on the scene.

  1. Russia and Putin's spokesmen need to hold up a mirror. Their anti-Israel rhetoric bears some responsibility. The Russian Federation potentially has a bigger Islamiac tribe problem than Europe or the US. The Russian Bear best not poke the Islamiac Bear.

  2. All this recreational rage-monkeying is going to get very real when a mild mannered citizen of (insert name of country here) decides to open up their trusty armalite rifle model 15 and kill 60 of them.

they did recognize what you say. Remember the problems they had in the 90's? Who called George bush and said "we are with you" after 911 and opened their air space to help us invade Afghanistan? That is correct...V Putin and the Russians

    What happened?

The US later on spit in the russians faces and treated them like, what was the quote? a gas station masquerading as a country. The russians would have been our best allies against the Chinese. We pushed them into the chinese orbit.

That is what you get for a foreign policy of arrogance.

As for "anti Israel rhetoric" ...no need for that. The Jews are their own worst enemy. Someone on this blog said last weeK.

"This is not Dresden". ....well guess what..... Gaza is starting to look a lot like Dresden.

I agree whole heartedly with everything you posted except the last line about Dresden. I would be more inclined to compare it to Stalingrad. the firebombing of Tokyo and Dresden and the two a bombs are in a class of their own.

  7. Hans,

Dresden had a large railroad marshalling yard. Such a yard would be a legitimate target. Supposedly it helped the the Russians avoid casualties.

    The bombing (13–15 February 1945)was 2.75 months before surrender ( 8 May 1945).

"Post-war discussions about whether the attacks were justified, and the tens of thousands of civilians killed, led to the event becoming one of the moral causes célèbres of the war. The present understanding of Nazi Germany's desperate struggle to maintain resistance in the closing months of the war is widely known; however, Allied intelligence assessments at the time gave a different picture. There was uncertainty over the ability of the Russian advance to keep up its momentum. Rumours of the establishment of a Nazi redoubt in Southern Germany were taken too seriously" - Wiki

The Soviets used to have their offensives stopped after making good gains not because the Germans were so good at defense (some of that), but because they outran their supply lines.

Did the allies know the extent or lack thereof of the German nuke program? What did SHAEF know about the bomb program and when did they know it?

One might look to how Grant, Sherman and Sheridan prosecuted the Civil war in the 2 or 3 months preceding Appomattox. Look at the conduct of WW1. To me ending fighting on the 11th minute of the 11th hour of the 11th day is a war crime. How many soldiers, journalists, academics or others tell you this?

To me if they could have gotten the word out and had a cease fire at dawn or 7 or 8 AM on the 11th, then the deaths of soldiers on both sides after such time would constitute a war crime by the allies. All to be poetic.

I do not know how many people study how to conduct a "just" war. I now my unit did. We read the book "Just and Unjust Wars". I think most training leaves training or study of moral conduct of war at the Geneva convention and that is about it. that and stuff like how t treat prisoners such as don't steal their money or pictures etc, but collect as much information n their unit etc. So I guess we would fail as Russian soldiers.

A problem I see is that they are going to study DEI out the ass and it is going to suck all the oxygen out of the room to study Just and unjust wars in ko0re than a perfunctory Geneva convention read through.

My parent's town was bombed. They piled the rubble on top of hill. It is called Rubble Hill. So I have mixed feelings about this.

Point is has anyone had discussion on how to wind up a war, when your side is winning? No, but they should.
