C. William Walldorf, Jr., Real Clear Wire: Time to Drawdown From Syria
As part of the fallout from the war in Gaza, U.S. forces in Syria and Iraq have come under attack more than fifty times from Iranian-backed militias since early October. At least fifty-six military personnel have been injured. In response, the U.S. launched retaliatory air strikes and has sent about 900 more troops to the region.
This bolstering of forces is the wrong move. In fact, the U.S. is overdue to drawdown its forces from Syria.
Why drawdown completely? The answer is simple. The small contingent of U.S. forces in Syria, especially, are sitting ducks for further attacks in support of missions where the costs of continuing those missions now far outstrip their strategic benefits. Recent attacks bring this mismatch between costs and benefits into sharp relief. These incidents should also serve as a warning for potential dangers if U.S. policy fails to change course.

WNU Editor: The U.S. is not going to withdraw any of its forces from Syria. Especially now. The mindset in Washington DC right now is that any withdrawal of US forces in the Middle East will be seen as a sign of weakness .... and they are probably right.
NO , NO WAY!!
ReplyDeleteJust sit there and get the crap bombed out of you for no good reason!
thats the way to do it!!
You can screem "freedom" as the shells come in.

ReplyDeleteOf course, If Trump had had his way, it would be impossible to look weak by pulling troops out now.
I voted for Trump, but Trump pulling out troops from Syria has merits. Personally, I think they need to remain.
Ah so.
DeleteNot even a question of weakness. US just wants to rule and kill the fuck of anyone that stand in their way.
ReplyDelete7:11 PM
ReplyDeleteThat used to be the case. Now not so much. Sadly. And Joe Biden has not yet missed an opportunity to put the US at a severe disadvantage where we were previously dominant. US forces are as likely to be pulled as they are to stay. And stay with the debilitating rules of engagement intact.

Time for the US to invade and put an end to the Hitler/Putin Regime.
The channel of relatives of Novosibirsk mobilised men published a fragment from the meeting on November 19. The relatives send their regards to propagandist Solovyov, who listed them as “agents of influence of foreign intelligence services.”
ReplyDelete“We are real. You're a bit confused, Vladimir. We are not enemies of the people. We are THE people,” says mother of a mobilised man.
1/ Relatives of mobilised Russian soldiers fighting in Ukraine say their men call themselves slave warriors: they are exhausted, depressed, serving with serious diseases or injuries, equipped at their own expense, commanded by drunkards and sent to die in "meat assaults"
2/ The relatives met on 19 November in a rare authorised rally at Novosibirsk's Palace of Culture. It was held indoors with attendance restricted only to relatives and without any media present, to avoid embarrassing the authorities.
/ An authorised rally of wives of mobilised Russian men – the first since the start of the war in Ukraine – has taken place today in Novosibirsk. However, it had to take place indoors and only with family members allowed to attend, supposedly due to "provocateurs."
3/ Nonetheless, as the Mobilisation News Telegram channel reports, a video and other details of what was discussed have been leaked. The channel lists the key points raised by the relatives:
4/ There are no rotations throughout the year – the mobilised are not given any rest from front-line operations.
They are depressed and extremely tired due to being on the front line all year without any prospect of an end to their service.
5/ They are not provided with uniforms, reliable body armor, equipment and much more – they have to buy everything themselves or with money raised by their fellow countrymen.
Most have only been allowed one period of leave, and some have not been allowed any leave at all.
6/ Some of the mobilised are serving despite having serious health conditions: diseases of the spine, a removed spleen, asthma, a previous heart attack, coronary heart disease.
7/ Wounded mobiks are given unfair fitness categories that do not take into account concomitant diseases, complications from injuries, and conditions caused by spending such a long time on the front line.
8/ Military-medical commissions are ignoring the findings of civilian health clinics.
WNU should be interned in Canada.
ReplyDeleteWill the NAZIs withdraw S-300/400 systems from the Kaliningrad to defend the Fatherland?
ReplyDeleteThere is talk.
When the war kicks off Poland will steamroll Kaliningrad.
The men from Kaliningrad mobik'd or dead
The AD? Repurposed.
The fighter aircraft? Hit on the ground.
What will the FEB geniuses do about the women of Novosibirsk? Arrest them and then wonder why people did not show up for work. they will try to backfill the jobs with Mohammed form Tajikistan before trying to shanghai him into the army and wonder why the job is no longer backfilled.
ReplyDeleteThey might only arrest a few so the rest are cowed and stay working. It might not work if too many men are confirmed dead or never come back.

Russians are cool with kidnapping 10 month olds.
And the US is cool with flattening hospitals with babies in them. Or killing large amounts of people at a refugee camp to get one guy.
ReplyDeleteYou are a nut. That statement makes as much sense as yours.
hey skods
ReplyDeleteGood morning
You ever wonder why the Ukies have a police company from Kiev in avdeevka?
Strange isn't??
I mean there are no people there anymore and not a lot of traffic.
I will give you a hint......
Can you say.. Kempeitai , or NKVD or Feldgendarmerie or maybe even SD?
I bet they are a great group of guys. Probably filled with AZOV fanatics.
Now if morale is so exceedingly high in the Ukrainian army, (like you believe) why would they need a unit like that. Especially a whole company of 100-200 men.
Oh yes, how silly of me, They are doing traffic stops and handing out speeding tickets. Or maybe selling raffle tickets for the Police officer's ball.
Ukraine will be defeated.
ReplyDelete"You ever wonder why the Ukies have a police company from Kiev in avdeevka?"
Because your granddaddy was a moron!
They inherited a lot form the Soviet Union and Russian occupation. there are also a whole lot of independent brigades running around on both sides. I think they get together and make babies.
You got your jackass blinders on again Mr fair and balanced.
ReplyDeleteThose goons are there for one purpose only, to keep order and shoot any Ukraine troops who resist.

Just like bakhmut. keep order , shoot deserters, or those "lacking proper spirit".
No, I admit I am wrong. They just all got up one day and volunteered to go to the front.
