Washington Post: World’s richest 1% pollute more than the poorest two-thirds, Oxfam says
The world’s richest 1 percent generated as much carbon emissions as the poorest two-thirds in 2019, according to a new Oxfam report that examines the uber-wealthy’s lavish lifestyles and investments in heavily polluting industries.
The report paints a grave portrait as climate experts and activists scramble to curtail global warming that is devastating vulnerable and often poor communities in Southeast Asia, East Africa and elsewhere.
This month marked a long-dreaded milestone for the planet, when scientists recorded an average global temperature that was more than 2 degrees Celsius above preindustrial levels on Friday.

John Kerry (D) does not care. He will spew carbon until the day he dies. He should not have to use Zoom for meetings, when he has a private jet.
ReplyDeletePeople use modern transportation. Libs owned again.
ReplyDeleteThere was not many measurements prior to the American Civil War.
ReplyDeleteFrom the Civil War to the turn of the century measurements were still crap.
They use to take sea surface temperature by using a bucket. They throw it over the side, haul it up and then stick a thermometer up. Bet that was accurate.
The temperature can be the same on a cloudy day and a sunny day, but if you leave a thermometer out in the sun it will record a higher temperature when in reality the temp is the same.
Liberals truly are the most simple, illogical and unscientific people out there. They should be in a zoo or museum exhibit.
This is stupidly backwards. Ok so get rid of the 1%.. and watch the economy crash and soaring unemployment. Guess who they hire? The poorest.
ReplyDeleteThomas Sowell may not have come up with the quote, but I think he often said it.
ReplyDelete"No poor man ever gave me a job."
Thomas Sowell is a demigod. small "g".
Here is one of his quotes:
"It is hard to imagine a more stupid or more dangerous way of making decisions than by putting those decisions in the hands of people who pay no price for being wrong."
"Racism is not dead, but it is on life support -- kept alive by politicians, race hustlers and people who get a sense of superiority by denouncing others as 'racists'" - Thomas Sowell
ReplyDeleteWe have one of those here and it comments frequently.
In a democracy, we have always had to worry about the ignorance of the uneducated. Today we have to worry about the ignorance of people with college degrees.
ReplyDeleteWho does that remind us of?
Ours may become the first civilization destroyed, not by the power of our enemies, but by the ignorance of our teachers and the dangerous nonsense they are teaching our children. In an age of artificial intelligence, they are creating artificial stupidity.

Blacks were not enslaved because they were black but because they were available. Slavery has existed in the world for thousands of years. Whites enslaved other whites in Europe for centuries before the first black was brought to the Western hemisphere. Asians enslaved Europeans. Asians enslaved other Asians. Africans enslaved other Africans, and indeed even today in North Africa, blacks continue to enslave blacks.

Okay, I am starting to hate Thomas Sowell. Man is too damn smart. I am envious. Positively green with envy.
People forget how they came to live in these good standards. Now they want to cut the olive branch they are currently living on. It's sad and amusing to watch.
ReplyDeleteThe disparity isn’t as offensive when the poor man makes 100 bucks and the boss make 100k. Now the poor makes 500 bucks and the boss makes 1.2 trillion. The numbers are all fucked up after 80 years of meddling with the free market.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I hear ya 4:12. A few more tweaks and the US will look like Russia and its oligarchs.
