US And China To Hold Nuclear Arms Talks Before Xi-Biden Meeting

Reuters: China agrees to nuclear arms-control talks with US -WSJ

China and the United States will discuss nuclear arms control next week, the first such talks since the Obama administration, the Wall Street Journal reported on Wednesday.

China's Foreign Ministry said on Monday after a visit by Foreign Minister Wang Yi to Washington that the two countries would hold "consultations on arms control and non-proliferation" in the coming days, as well as separate talks on maritime affairs and other issues.

Those arms talks would be led on Monday by Mallory Stewart, a senior State Department official, and Sun Xiaobo, the head of the arms-control department at China's Foreign Ministry, the Wall Street Journal report said.

WNU Editor: I am not optimistic that these talks will accomplish anything. For one, the Chinese are not going to back-off in building their nuclear deterrence .... Communication with US to prevent miscalculation is critical, while China reserves the right to build a strong nuclear arsenal (Hu Xijin, Global Times).

I disagree. The control of the press is such that win or lose, if a golden boy engages the other side, they win back home.

It is a dirty, frustrating job, but here is our paladin carrying the flag. They can always chalk up failures to the policies and diplomats of the last Republican administration. If Republicans had stayed the course and done things the Democrat way, we would be done by now. Iran would be peaceful and the oceans would recede.

Iran worked with Abdul Qadeer Khan and North Korea. They already have the bomb. The only thing they dare not do is test one in Iran. but you can be Iranians scientists inspected North Korean bombs and were there for the tests. They know how to build a bomb.

You could test your explosives and electronics on dummy masses like lead or some other heavy metal of approximately the same weight. Give the signal and see if the electronics perform their timing exactly and inspect the force of the explosives on the dummy to see if they imploded the lead or other metal dummy evenly and with enough force. You can test component of a system without testing the whole system.

You still want to test with the real thing. A radioactive core is going to slow cook the electronics. You will want to know how they hold up and if they will work 5 or 10 years later. You could test components subjected to years of radiation to destructive tests as well after taking out the fissile material.

So Blinken and Kerry kiss up to Iran in hopes of delaying them making a bomb that they already have. They are fools but for engaging in process, for engaging in diplomacy, they are given much fanfare by the MSM. The same will happen with the talks with the Chinese.

Blinken will accomplish nothing but be feted in the right circles back home.
