Politico: U.S. discussing peacekeeping force for Gaza after Hamas falls, senators say
These are early conversations, the lawmakers say, as the White House asserts no U.S. troops would form part of a multinational coalition.
Talks are underway to establish a multinational force in Gaza after Israel uproots Hamas, two senators confirmed Wednesday, the clearest sign yet that the U.S. and its partners are seriously weighing deploying foreign troops to the enclave.
Sens. Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.) and Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) told POLITICO that there’s early, closed-door diplomacy over establishing a peacekeeping force in Gaza, though it was not likely to include American troops.

WNU Editor: The White House is saying no to US troops being deployed to Gaza as part of a multinational force .... No US peacekeeping troops in Gaza, White House says (Reuters).
But US Sens. Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.) and Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) are two politicians who are in the know on what the US is planing to do when it comes to this war. I believe them when they say that talks are currently underway to establish a multinational force in Gaza that will include US troops after Israel uproots Hamas.
As to what is my take on US troops being deployed to Gaza when this war is over.
I think it will be a huge mistake. The optics of US troops standing over the charred remains of Gaza and its traumatized population is not going to resonate well in much of the world.
Already half the world dislikes America... Lets see not expecting anything clever from them
ReplyDeleteWho gives a fuck
DeleteDick Blumenthal received five draft deferments during the Vietnam War, first educational deferments, then deferments based on his occupation. In April 1970, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps Reserve, which, as The New York Times noted, "virtually guaranteed that he would not be sent to Vietnam". He served in units stationed in Washington, D.C., and Connecticut from 1970 to 1976, attaining the rank of sergeant. During his 2010 Senate campaign, news report videos that showed Blumenthal claiming he had served in Vietnam created a controversy. He denied having intentionally misled voters, but acknowledged having occasionally "misspoken" about his service record. He later apologized to voters for remarks about his military service that he said had not been "clear or precise".
ReplyDeleteDick (appropriately named) BloomingIdiot, a known coward, wants to lecture us on how to maintain the future (?) peace.
Don't want to go to Vietnam, fine. Join a "safe" unit and be done with it. If for some reason the unit get orders to ship out, you go.
BloominIdiot is as odious as mcConnell and many o the rest of them.
All you can do, say is to tell us about a guy who managed to evade a war that the American public finally turned against?
ReplyDeleteHow many other people, elected or not, found ways to avoid that disaster? And did you serve. Tell us about it: when, where, in what capacity?
My aren't you curious! Tell us about YOUR service Sgt. Rock.
DeleteI already told you my service. REMF, in the warzone with a chance of light artillery strikes. No patrolling.
ReplyDeleteSo, way more than Dick FlowerValley.
About being a REMF. I applied for a front line job. Did not get it. The recruiter said take the REMF job or wait 6 months and try again. I discussed it with the old man. The old man said Schwarzkopf got the book deal and speaking engagements. The other guy? He got C-suite job at a multinational.
Oh and I had an out. I could have gotten classified dental readiness 3 or 4. Meaning no deployment, but have 6 months to correct.
Dick is not impressive
Biden less so.
Good thing about Dubya is I knew whatever his faults, he would not hang us out to dry. Can't
say that about punk ass Biden.
You know the racist that was going to take a bike chain to a black kid.
Putting a different flavor of troop on the concentration camp towers simply changes who's sons will be buried year over year.
ReplyDeleteHonestly, bravo to the Israeli lobby if they can convince the droolers to send their kids to die for another country's ethnic cleansing. Our leaders could learn a thing or two from those guys- that is, if 25% of them weren't already those guys.
Not happening. Beirut 1983 all over again.
