NBC News: Fears grow that Trump will use the military in ‘dictatorial ways’ if he returns to the White House

Among those being mentioned for Trump’s defense secretary are Christopher Miller, who served temporarily during his administration, Michael Flynn and Mike Pompeo.

WASHINGTON — Donald Trump is sparking fears among those who understand the inner workings of the Pentagon that he would convert the nonpartisan U.S. military into the muscular arm of his political agenda as he makes comments about dictatorship and devalues the checks and balances that underpin the nation’s two-century-old democracy.

A circle of appointees independent of Trump’s political operation steered him away from ideas that would have pushed the limits of presidential power in his last term, according to books they’ve written and testimony given to Congress. Most were gone by the end. In a new term, many former officials worry that Trump would instead surround himself with loyalists unwilling to say no.

WNU Editor: What a eye-opening article from NBC News. They are basically reporting/admitting that there is a plan, in advance, for the military to ignore a duly elected civilian government and the military chain of command. If this is what "insiders" in the Pentagon are planning, I can only imagine what "insiders" in America's intelligence agencies are planning.

Update: The below tweet from NBC below says it all.

  1. If the blob would willfully ignore a duly elected president. That is called treason.

And to plan to do so is called conspiracy and sedition.

The web gets tighter as we move to war.

  3. One reason given for the fall of more than one Chinese dynasty was the bureaucracy. The Mandarins were the bureaucracy. The Mandarins professed the greatest concern for the safety and well being of the emperor. So they advised that he not risk actually campaigning with the army.

It was pointed out that many dynastic founders militarily campaigned. Their son might have also. these dynastic leaders were dynamic. But by about the time of their grandsons or great grandson there was no such experience. The emperors stayed in the capital and the Mandarins ran things unlike what the original founder did.

In short the follow on emperors were nepo babies, who were infantalized.

When you farm out military responsibilities things like the Western Roman Empire falling is child's play to what could happen. During the An Lushan Rebellion, it has been estimated 36 million people died. More recent scholarship is that a breakdown in tax records accounts for some of this 36 million.

Letting the bureaucracy run things and keeping the the emperor or president as a figurehead is not a recipe for peace. Look at Japan. the emperor was a figurehead for 1,000 or 1,500 years. peace reigned in Japan during this time.

It helps when waging war to have moral authority. Part of moral authority is doing the right things, But also having the people buy in. Where was this done in Syria? I believe we should be in Syria. I also believe you should make a case for it.

Trump did not want to be in Syria after the caliphate fell. So he did not make a case for it. Who was making a case? What were the polls?

Bureaucrats would be more than happy to hang any body count in Syria, American or collateral, around Trump's neck and take no responsibility.

Maybe Trump did not want to be in Syria for the same reason some conglomerates spin off divisions and focus on a core set of integrated divisions. to do it better. Now the leadership of the conglomerate can focus and get better results.

Maybe what Trump wanted to focus on was the border and the economy.

Is this reasonable? Lots of corporations do it. It helps them flourish. It also helps the spun off divisions flourish and grow like gangbusters.

In military simulations some of them have rules that you can only move so many units each turn. In the Avalon Hill Battle of the bulge game it is to simulated the German supply situation. On other games it is to simulate that leaders can only make so many decisions in a unit of time.

So would it be reasonable for Trump to spin off Syria to focus on the economy and the border.

Consider this. If the border was secure and the Democrats did not fight like Hell to make it unsecure, Trump would have time and energy to focus on the economy and Syria.

Just let the the bureaucracies focus on their portfolios, because they are many of them? How do you prioritize the War on Poverty over the war in Syria? Don't prioritize. Just raise taxes until each bureaucracies have everything it wants?

Sure that will work out well.

  5. United States is over, this year will be the pinnacle of its demise. Next year we will see the formation of self governing quasi states throughout the mainland. A sad future indeed. What we’ve been trying to do to Russia will instead happen to us

  6. If Trumpkins wanted to be in power forever, he would have teamed up with Jeffrey Epstein and communicated through a cutout and got dirt on bundlers and politicians.

  8. What Nicholas said. +1,000

    The Truth

Despite all that illegal border crossing went down, gas was cheaper, inflation lower and no new wars.

    But orange man bad.

There is a saying among liberals and about liberals.

It is: "Vote blue no matter who"

So if Uncle Adolph came back from the dead and ran on the Democrat party ticket, they would vote for him.

The New Ork Times would lead the charge in the makeover.

  9. I agree with above statements.

Especially as many of the leaders were involved in the russia hoax conspiracy, which even MSM now covers.

If they were to resist the command of the president and not resign, they might be arrested and in bad cases shot on sight.

    It IS treason
