Terrorists In Former Soviet States Want "Dirty Bombs," Official Says -- Global Security NewswireTerrorist organizations operating within the Commonwealth of Independent States are believed to be actively trying to build a radiological "dirty bomb," Interfax reported yesterday.
However, extremists in the former Soviet republics are not yet in possession of the radioactive material that would be combined with conventional explosives in such a weapon, according to CIS Antiterrorist Center chief Andrei Novikov.
