Book: Obama Dressed Down Pentagon Brass Over Campaign To Send More Troops To Afghanistan -- L.A. Times/AP
NEW YORK (AP) — President Barack Obama reprimanded top Pentagon officials last year for pressing publicly for a troop increase in Afghanistan.
That's according to "The Promise," a book on Obama's first year in office by Newsweek writer Jonathan Alter. It goes on sale May 19.
The book says Obama laid into Defense Secretary Robert Gates and Joint Chiefs Chairman Mike Mullen in an Oval Office meeting last October.

My Comment: I remember this time very well. Leaks were occurring everywhere, and it was clear that President Obama was being pressured by everyone to make a decision quickly .... a decision further complicated because I am sure that he was (to begin with) very reluctant to make it.
Did he "dress down" his military chiefs .... I know that I would if I was in his shoes.
