F-35 Helmet Display System To Scare The Bejeezus Out Of Enemies -- Gizmodo

The helmet is designed to provide pilots with binocular-wide field-of-view, give night vision abilities and scare enemy pilots at first sight. It was used for the first time last April, making the F-35 the first combat plane without a cockpit-mounted heads-up display in a very long time.

My Comment: Impressive .... and yes .... scary.

I am sorry, but if you can get close enough as an enemy pilot so that you can actually see the helmet, the F35 has failed big time... And then you are encouraged that you are actually that close and have a shot at having a shot..
It would work however if you have lots of pictures on the web and TV and never get to see any human face behind it.. Like a mystical fighter :-) but once you shoot down one of these (or it crashes due to malfunctions or other reasons) it's over too
The only thing scary about it was that it was highlighted in two major and recent government reports not to work properly. So much so that the whole combat system--if it is ever to survive--go back to conventional methods.
Thank you Mark and Eric for your comment. I was commenting on its visual looks and not on it technical failings. But yes .... I agree that it has not performed according to expectations.
