Pakistan Launches A Smear Campaign Against The Doctor Who Helped The CIA In Tracking Down Bin Laden

Pakistan Launches Smear Campaign Against Osama Bin Laden Doctor -- The Telegraph

Pakistan officials have been accused of launching a smear campaign against Shakeel Afridi, the doctor who helped the CIA find Osama bin Laden, only to be sentenced to 33 years in prison for treason.

Now, with Dr Afridi under special protection in a Pakistani prison, unnamed officials have briefed journalists that the father-of-three is a hard-drinking womaniser in an apparent attempt to smear his character.

A 2002 Pakistan provincial health department document seen by the Reuters news agency, questioned his integrity.

"Keeping in view his extreme lust for money, I am ashamed to even call him a doctor. He is a corrupt, unreliable and low category officer," said the report.
