At least 71 Palestinians were killed and 150 others injured on Sunday in Israeli attacks on different parts of the blockaded Gaza Strip, according to a Palestinian health official.

"This brings to 1830 the total number of Palestinians killed since the beginning of the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip on July 7," Health Ministry spokesman Ashraf al-Qodra told Anadolu Agency.

"Around 9370 Palestinians have also been injured in Israeli attacks during the same period," he said.

Al-Qodra added that rescue teams were still looking for victims who might be buried under the rubble in the southern parts of the Gaza Strip.

My Comment: I had originally predicted that this war would end when 1,000 were killed. I then said only last week that when the death toll hits 2,000 is when both sides will listen to US Secretary of State John Kerry to come to some form of a permanent cease-fire. Now .... with the total dead probably over 2,000 .... I must confess that I am not at all sure on when will this war end. Israel is determined to stop Hamas from launching any missile or military strikes against Israel, and Hamas is equally determined to continue the war because they do not want to stop. On both sides .... there is not only strong support for the war .... but also strong support for the war to continue and to not end .... even with all the casualties, destruction, and suffering. With such dynamics at play, and with no major power interested in becoming involved to broker a ceasefire deal, the next few weeks are going to be complete hell for those who live in Gaza, and for Israel .... growing international criticism and a realization that even though they have lost a number of soldiers in this war .... there will be no peace on their border with Gaza long after the last victim has been buried.
